Review: "7 Benedictions/7 Maledictions" by German Heavy Rock Band Bladflowerz
Why is 7 Benedictions/7 Maledictions Important to Listen To?
Bladflowerz is a very entertaining heavy rock band from Germany. Their 2nd studio album called 7 Benedictions/7 Maledictions is another album that fans of the genre should check out. The first song that I ever heard from this album is the heavy rock song called Wild Heart. The song has much symbolism and important advice in it that all of us could use through our life. The song is about taking risks on your own and tasting that apple on your own. It is never too late to start a journey of exploration because you want to look back on your life knowing that you actually lived instead of just having existed and gone through the motions to have. That’s one of the reasons why this writer takes vacations. If you don’t take risks and explore the world, you will never know what is out there. Don’t forget to dream and please don’t forget to love.
More About the Significance of the Song Wild Heart
As Kirsten says in the song the day that you forget to dream, you are dead but not literally. If you don't dream or love, then you may be dead emotionally and that would not be an ideal state of emotions. Note: Bladflowerz is also known to North American fans as Bloodflowerz and it is the same band that wrote the album Diabolic Angel.
What are some other good songs on this album?
Dorian is a heavy Gothic style rock tune that I always enjoyed as well not only because of the riffing but because of Kirsten Zahn’s melodic singing. Raise the Dawn is a song about someone reaching for the moon in order to attract what they see as the perfect life. If we just open our eyes to what is possible, we can discover lots of secrets. The song False Gods has an atmospheric sound similar to the band Cradle of Filth. Make sure to not be tempted by false forces that are only going to lead you in the wrong direction. That is the message that I get from the song. The song My Treasure is about someone who knows that they would do anything to be around the person that they love.
The Album Has Paradise Lost and Metallica Influences in it
The song Last Exit has a Paradise Lost influence. It is about someone that has lost all hope and he is very angry. He must find a way out of this maze of despair. The song She knows Why has a somewhat groovy riff in the beginning. There are questions as to why we live and die and this is one of the fundamental questions of our existence on Earth. The last song called The Death of Souls has a riff similarity to Metallica’s One. The song is tuned at about the same octave except a few of the notes are slightly different. Maybe some of us non-musicians will notice this quality as well. There are a few notes that sound like this if you hear it closely enough. Bladflowerz would go on to record Dark Love Poems in 2006 before disbanding until 2013. This is Bladflowerz's weakest album but even so, it is still worth listening to.

How is the album 7 Benedictions/7 Maledictions overall?
As we near the end of Bladflowerz’s sophomore album, it is not as good as their 2002 album Diabolic Angel even with 2 superb songs like Wild Heart and Dorian. Even though this is the case, at least the band has a solid female vocalist in their band and this helps.
