Ragged Rhyming Blues
I wake up in the morning and try to get out of bed,
Playing that Ragged Blues Music inside my head.
It won't let me along, got to be rhyming all the time,
About to drive me crazy, when it all ends in a rhyme.
Refrain:
I got those old ragged, old ragged Rhyming Blues Time Blues,
I tell you brothers and sisters, you can't win with those Blues.
When I was just a kid and tried to say my ABCs,
I couldn't shake the rhymes, did what I pleased.
When I counted to ten, then started over again,
Never finished my lessons, know where to begin.
Refrain:
I got those old ragged, old ragged Rhyming Blues time Blues,
I tell you brothers and sisters, you can't win with those Blues.
When I wrote down a letter, I had to do it twice,
It seemed to rhyme, always looked kind of nice.
Went to the board, then had to add and subtract,
Wrote the same numbers, they had to be exact.
Refrain:
I got those old Ragged, old ragged Rhyming Blues Time Blues,
I tell you brothers and sisters, you can't win with those Blues.
When I went out on a date, arrived there too late,
My girlfriend up and left, I suppose it was my fate.
Kept reading stop signs over again, just to rhyme,
I'm glad she left, cause I didn't have a single dime.
Refrain:
I got those old Ragged, old ragged Rhyming Blues time Blues,
I tell you brothers and sisters, you can't win with those Blues.
ABC,one, two, three, and H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Ragged Rhyming Blues,
I got those lazy, crazy, pick-a-Daisy, Ragged Rhyming Blues Time Blues.
Slip down on the floor, don't forget to close the door, just like I said before,
I'm telling you brothers and sisters, you just can't win with those old Blues.
Refrain:
You can't win, when you got those old Ragged Rhyming Blues Time Blues,
Everything's got to rhyme, not miss a single time, Ragged Rhyming Blues.
