Rock Bottom

Updated on August 15, 2010

Rock Bottom

by Chuck RitenouR 4-7-2K8

verse one:

I heard she lost someone heard she lost everything

they say she fought her way back at least that's what they think

I guess only she could know, and I know I've been there too.

when you hit rock bottom I said really hit rock bottom only one thing you can do.

verse two:

You gotta take life day by day watch every thing you do and say

when you've lost your pride and you're empty inside get down on your knees and pray

everyone loses time to time, yeah everybody fails

but when you hide in the bottle, find comfort in the needle, life is living hell

verse three:

Sometimes its so damned hard, you care what anybody thinks

and you hit rock bottom, I said really hit rock bottom and you continue to sink

when you're down on your knees and you're beginniong to see

won't you say a prayer for her and say a little prayer for me.

the end.

When I was in college, my "lit" professor used to go on and on about a "writer's creative tension", a term that described what had caused them to become a writer. Describing not only why they had become a writers, but that thing that had changed their lives so drastically that they were compelled to write. Unfortunately, I was out of college many years before I understood the concept and experienced it first hand.

I hope this isn't written out of personal experience ... but an excellent composition none the less!
