Ryan Giggs the Famous Football Player is Revealed as the Love cheat with Imogen Thomas

Updated on September 11, 2012

Outed By Parliament

So the story is out at last. The famous British footballer is outed as the man who threatened to sue Twitter for naming him as the secret lover of model Imogen Thomas. Ryan Giggs supposedly had an affair with Imogen, but instead of putting his hands up and admitting that he had been caught out, he decided, with not a lot of sense, let's be honest here, that he was going to take out an injunction to keep her from selling the story. Over the past week, the TV News has repeatedly shown the 'secret' story over and over again, while everybody was trying desperately to find out who he was. Then Twitter started to, well, twitter if you like! And the gossip started. Thousands of people got in on the act and the whole thing became ridiculous. The Manchester United star, instead of stopping the whole business, then decided in his wisdom, to sue Twitter! I would like to have seen that! For a start it is an American firm, so no jurisdiction then! and for the other blindingly obvious point, the longer that he kept on trying to keep it quiet, the bigger it got until the whole country was talking about it! You have to give him credence for his stupidity! I don't honestly think that anybody else would have even have thought of doing it this way, not even Wayne Rooney! For those who don't know him, he's just another footballer who can't keep his pants on! But where his story is regarded as 'Rooney does it again', Ryan Giggs story is a bit more complicated and dark.

Imogen Thomas is a model and has appeared on Britain's Big Brother. She isn't particularly well known apart from that. The trouble is that when the word Blackmail starts to get bandied about then the girl in question is suddenly thrust into the news. Now, at this point, there hasn't been any proof apart from Giggs claiming that she tried to blackmail him for a large sum of money. The number has been quoted as 100,000 pounds, but this hasn't been confirmed yet. She is claiming that it is a lie, just sour grapes by Giggs. Imogen supposedly only met Giggs three times overall. Once in September, the other times in November and December. Giggs has written a Witness Statement claiming that Imogen text him in March of this year stating that she was going to sell her story. 28 year old Imogen is firmly denying the allegations of Blackmail, stating that she is going to sue Giggs, presumably for defamation of Character.

Blindingly Obvious!

Why are footballers so gullible? It seems to me that the second they start kicking a football around, their brains seem to disappear from their heads and end up in their feet. Or other parts. Why is it so obvious to me and the rest of the world that this girl, along with countless others only went out with him so that she could sell her story? Or maybe I am wrong. Perhaps Imogen actually did fall in love with Ryan Giggs, and he decided that it was much to dangerous to carry on because of his wife and children, yes, you read it right, wife and children. Has anybody actually thought of them in all of this? No? Thought not. My opinion is that if Imogen actually found Giggs attractive, then she would have either, 1. Gone out with someone even if he was a road sweeper, and 2. Kept her mouth shut about selling her story. But no. It seems that these days, even when the the couple are having the affair, the girl is already counting the dollars or pounds! My advice to her is, give it up and claim back some dignity. If you loved him then just walk away. Sadly, this isn't going to happen. Either way for her it is a win, win situation. Sell her story, or take him to court. Either way she is suddenly going to be thrust onto our TV screens at every opportunity. Maybe the Girl is totally innocent. It does happen, not a lot, but it does. In that case I feel very sorry for Imogen and I hope it works out well. Maybe next time she will be more careful who she dates. We will see.

Is it Right for Celebs to get a Court Injunction?

There are two opinions about this. One is that a persons privacy is theirs to do with what they wish. The other is, if the person is in the public eye, and more importantly we are paying their wages, which we do in the case of over payed footballers, then they should learn to respect their wives, or if they do get caught out, own up and apologise. In the Case of Ryan Giggs and Imogen Thomas, it seems that there were so many other ways to handle it. For a start, why didn't Giggs take Imogen to court for Blackmail? I know that I would if anybody tried it with me. And I am sure that you all would too. It will all be in the newspapers from tomorrow onwards. We shall have to see what happens. All I know is, if Giggs had admitted it in the first place, we would be using the story in the paper to wrap our fish and chips in by now! (British habit, look it up! lol)

On a more sober note, the story was outed by MP John Hemming, the Lib Dem MP in Parliament. Seems he was sick to death of the whole thing too! Perhaps Celebs including footballers should learn to live in the real world. There is no Them and Us. Even though they seem to think they are special. They are not. It is up the public to make or break them.

Celebrity Injunctions

Do you think Celebs should be allowed to keep their Affairs quiet?

I'm not sure what the rules are in the UK but regardless, I think if you are a ceitlrbey of any sort, media attention just goes along with the job. That being the case, if you are going to make a bad decision' you are going to have to deal with the consequences of that decision. These people need to own up to their mistakes like the rest of us do; they shouldn't get to hide behind a legal injunctions simply cause they are famous/rich

There is a double stranadd, women are vilified and men are given a pass. I mean think of Bill Clinton, ultimate cheat, man got away with it and more. I think a lot of men will go for sex when offered, but women cheat when they are unhappy with the relationship. And I think the women who knowingly have affairs with married men should be responsible for their actions, just the same as men. Money or not, you've got to be accountable. Although I think it happens a lot nowadays, I think it did before too, but with online affairs it just opens one more avenue. If someone is going to cheat, they'll find a way.

I love the style of your writing. I was a shocker to me and my son. We would have never thought Ryan Giggs but as the saying goes don't justdge the books by the cover. Lesson learned. I am so glad that the Internet exist. At long last the man in the street can have their say without being edit and it gives a lot of power too.

Great and funny hub Nell. I don't follow football, hence never knew about Ryan Giggs till now. What a way to be remembered. Its unfortunate that footballers tend to display a rare lack of intelligence when it comes to matters concerning the fact that they cannot appear to keep their zips up. As for the ladies who thrive on a kiss and tell life style to earn a lavish living, I honestly don't know how they can enjoy spending such cheap money at the expense of defaming someone's character.

I think the whole thing is just one big marketing scheme for both Giggs and Thomas...a big pre-game stunt. (btw, sorry about yesterday's result). Hey, why should Rooney get all the racy action?

I don't think the famous are anymore scandalous than ordinary folks. It's just that we don't care what the passengers who share our bus ride are doing. Where did we get the idea that because people are in the limelight they are supposed to behave themselves or give a hoot what we think?

Good piece, Nells....I frankly am sick and tired of these highly paid primadonnas getting away with being skanks and still remaining in the public eye. I think they should all be tossed out on their arses if you ask me. It seems like all of society pats them on the bum for their cheating ways and instead of being shunned (like they probably SHOULD be in my humble old lady opinion), they are further brought to our attention day in and day out dragging their dirty laundry into our lives. What's wrong with that?? I just think something should make it NOT so lucrative to be jerk!

The odd thing about Imogen Thomas is, that though I was a "Big Brother" fan since it's beginning, I can not remember her. She can not have got very far.

The problem these sporting "love rats" have is that they are worried about losing their valuable sponsorship deals, rather than their marriages breaking up. It's all about money.

As perhaps one of the few males in Britain who couldn't careless about football or footballers even after the name hit the headlines I still had to ask Who ?

Who he is and who he messes around with is of little interest to me but I can understand how our celebrity driven media would be apoplectic that they were banned from naming and shaming.

I'd have more time for these Hunter Gathering News Hacks if they were to give up the moral high ground and stop pretending that people having affairs is actually news. No wonder it's called the Gutter Press.

I'd have thought who isn't might be more news worthy !

But there again I haven't bought a newspaper or a 'Who is Screwing Who' magazine in the last ten years so I'm not really their target market.

      Hi Nell,

Thank you for this great and very topical hub.

I do not think that they should be able to cover up stories such as these at all.

They are in the limelight and are looked up to by many youngsters, so I'm afraid that in my opinion if they do stray then it should not be covered up.

Thank you again for a great hub as always Nell and I vote up/useful or this one.

      Take care
