Soundtracks - Why you can not go wrong with them

Updated on February 19, 2011

Despite my weird sense of music people seems to decide I have a fine taste in choosing songs. Many wonder how I could pick just the right song for the right thought or mood or event. Some, however, smirk and dismiss me as mediocre when I actually tell them where it came from - soundtracks.

I could not care less.

Soundtracks make a lot of sense to me. You can't go wrong with soundtracks for at least three reasons.

First of all, soundtracks are for movies. Movies is a multi billion dollars business. So whoever they choose to be in charge in doing the soundtracks will be somebody who knows what he is doing. An expert.

Second of all, soundtracks are indeed born out of moods. Moods in the story line, the character's blues and the riveting plot.

Last but not least, soundtracks not only must build the needed atmosphere for the scenes but they must win the audiences heart as well. Although picking something that has a history of topping the chart seems to be the obvious path, those experts many times actually exercise their expertise to either write something on their own or whip out something from their personal collection.

So if you feel like you're not hip and trendy enough in music department, go with soundtracks. Just keep in mind they are not necessarily interchangeable with theme songs.
