Episode 5 Challenge: Design a look for Heidi

Every season there is a Project Runway challenge to design a look for Heidi to wear to a red carpet event. This year the event was the 2014 Creative Arts Emmys that occurred on August 16th in Los Angeles. The Creative Arts Emmys are the television industry's way of acknowledging creative excellence in the behind the scenes work that goes into a television program.

Even though the awards ceremony was for the behind the scenes crew, the event was still worthy of all the thrills and frills of a red carpet awards show. Heidi wore a gown created by Sean Kelly as the episode 5 winning designer. The gown was embellished with tassles that used and ombre affect to move from a sapphire blue to black. When standing still, the gown looks sleek and sophisticated, but as she walked and twirled down the red carpet, the dress would sway and fan out with the movements.

What happens in Episode 5?

It unclear what all the down and dirty secrets of the episode are just yet. The only details that have been released are that the designers had 12 hours and 200 dollars to make a Red Carpet look for Heidi to wear, and that Sean Kelly (@PR13SeanKelly) won the competition.

In the preview for tonight's episode, Heidi is seen touring the workroom, and saying things like 'it's not good', 'sad', and 'boring'. Many of the designers look terrified of disappointing the supermodel. It doesn't seem like it gets much better once the looks hit the runway, with Zac Posen commenting that one of them is 'indecent exposure'.

Some fans were upset by the look premiering on the red carpet before the show aired, but Tim Gunn responded by saying that the Emmys Press was just to good to not give the designer the full reward.
