70 Years Young And Still Touring

Like many other musicians who began their career in the 1960s, Steve Miller was born in the 1940s.

I find it not only amazing that so much music from the 60's and 70's still sounds good today, but so many founding members of rock bands are still touring as well and sounding as good as ever.

In fact not only are bands like this still playing to a generation of ageing fans, they are gaining a new following from the younger generation as well, which should help to keep their music alive for many years to come.

I was fortunate enough to see The Steve Miller Band play live at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida about 6 years ago, and they definitely put on a great concert, one that had the crowd on their feet from the first note until the last.

A Great Greatest Hits Album

Greatest Hits 1974-78
Greatest Hits 1974-78

I have owned this CD for about 15 years and it gets played regularly, either in the car or when I am working out in the gym.

Every track on this album is a great hit, from "The Joker" to "Fly Like An Eagle", "Take The Money And Run" and well if you like The Steve Miller Band you can probably name the rest without looking.

If you love Steve Miller and Classic Rock, this is ONE terrific CD that you ought to have in your collection. If you haven't, it's time to rectify that.

The 2014 Tour

In 2014 The Steve Miller Band have been touring with Journey, another great classic rock band, that tour now coming to a conclusion with a final concert in Tinely Park, IL on 10th September.

Did you manage to see them in concert this year? If so please let our visitors know what you thought in the visitors book at the bottom of this page.

      Hello Tony,

It's plain you like the Steve Miller band, so do I and I probably don't know as much about them as you do, so...

I think you could make more of this page. Why not add an appraisal of Steve Miller's musical career, what changes have been made to the band's lineup, discography etc? And who did he play with originally? (Assuming, like Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Mick Taylor, Jimi Hendrix, he was with established musicians before he set out to form his own lineup).

Have a good year-ender, take the rest of the year off and let's see the additions in the New Year (?)

What an awesome blast from the past, Tony! I loved the Steve Miller Band back in high school and college and still enjoy it when one of their classic rock tunes is played on "oldies" radio. (Apparently I'm an "oldie", too.) Their music is timeless, lyrical, upbeat (and usually fun) and I can't help singing along. Thanks for this trip down memory lane!

It's been at least 6 years since I saw them, but they still sounded really good and put on a great concert. I hope you get to see them in concert sometime soon.
