Storage Auctions in California

When customers leave storage lockers behind and do not pay the renter fee the storage business now owns that merchandise. Then U Haul or whoever it may be allows the public to bid on these storage units at an auction open to the public.

The show also aired episodes in New York and Texas but only the original Cali show proved to be a success. The show debuted in December of 2010 and it is showing no signs of slowing own.

Dan & Laura (Auctioneers)

Dan and Laura are husband and wife but they also hosts most of the auctions on the hit show.

Grading Dan & Laura Dotson

Dan and his wife Laura run the auctions and they do the bids with the public. Other than holding court at the storage businesses the show focuses on their personal lives as well. Often they can be seen in their lavish home or arguing in the automobile on the way to work. These folks actually invited the cast to their home for a huge Christmas special which was awesome. Occasionally the buyers travel far away and other people handle the auctions which sucks. The auctioneers should always be Dan and Laura to me.

Grade: B+

Brandi and Jarrod (Young Guns)

Brandi and Jarrod own a thrift store in California and they keep the show entertaining with their rifts and feuds.

Barry (The Collector)

Barry is the most fun guy on the show. He frequently disguises himself and drives very unusual transportation. Barry Weiss now has his own show called Barry'd Treasure.

Grading Brandi Passante & Jarrod Shulz

Brandi and Jarrod are a family and they have two kids. They own a thrift shop called Now and Then. These two are probably, along with Dave Hester and Barry, the most popular characters in the show. They are seen at home and at the Thrift Store so much so that Brandi and Jarrod even hatched a spin off show about their lives when they are not at auctions. They fight with each other but it's so cute and usually lighthearted riffs.

Grading Barry Weiss

Barry seems to participate in trying to win units more for entertainment than for profit. This guy is fun for several reasons. Three unique things about Barry are that he always drives up in very odd or unique autos and many times he dresses up in disguise and finally, Barry often times brings a guest or friend with him. Barry Weiss left the storage auction show recently to start production on his own new show titled Barry'd Treasure. The show will still be good but without Barry it will never be the same.

Grading Dave Hester

Dave Hester is, along with Darrell, the top dogs with the most cash at these events. Hester has owned two stores which were featured on the television show a few times. His thrift store was called Rags to Riches. He also performs his own auctions as well as attending them. Known as The Mogul, Dave is famous for running up bids on units (lockers) he does not even have an interest in.

Feel free to leave your comments on this show by leaving a message in the capsule at the bottom of this article.

Grading Darrell Sheets

Darrell actually holds the record for the most money made off of a storage wars locker win. He pocketed $300,000 for selling off some famous paintings. Darrell uses flea markets (swap meets) to sell most of his items. Darrell and his son really despise Dave Hester and the trio have been in some in your face arguments to be sure. One thing is for sure. Mr. Sheets knows what he is doing in this business. Some of the words out of his mouth are absurd and make no sense which is hilarious even if he is doing it on purpose to be silly.

Grade: B+

Ivy (The King)

Ivy has his own thrift store and he regularly attends auctions seeking merchandise to fill his store which is named Grandma's Attic.

Grading Ivy Calvin

Ivy has his own thrift store which is called Grandma's Attic. Ivy Calvin often makes corny comments but he is serious about trying to win the best units for the least amount of money. Ivy is the one buyer that always seems to work alone. He doesn't even use help to load up his purchase. Personally, I find him to be pretty funny at times and he likes to try out the items he plans to sell before he gets rid of them.

Grade: B

Renae & Casey (The Bargain Hunters)

Renae and his wife Casey own The Bargain Hunters thrift store and they spend big dough on lockers.

Grading Renae & Casey Nezhoda

Renae and his wife Casey own their own store and have made big impacts at these auctions. Renae's sworn enemy on the T.V. show seems to be Darrell. Renae can be a butt sometimes. He is German and you might say that he is a German version of Dave Hester from Yuuup fame. Also like Hester he will run a unit price up high just to break the pockets of the other bidders.

Grade: B-

Final Thoughts & Overall Grade

To be honest I love this show and my favorite buyer would have to be Dave Hester. It is fun to see what they find and you never know what's gonna be found. Mainly though it is the cast that makes this show awesome. My favorite part is when buyers bring unique finds to someone who specializes in the product and can give them an appraisal.

Overall Grade: A-
