Survival Shows; The Best Shows on TV

Updated on May 2, 2012

Dual Survival, Man Vs. Wild, Survivor Man, are some of these type of shows that I'm talking about. Why are these the best shows on TV? Well they're probably not for everyone, but for anyone who enjoys outdoors, hunting, camping, and just being "manly" these are the shows for you. Not only are these shows just great for survival and outdoorsy like tips, their just awesome. I'm going camping this summer and my goal is to be as minimalistic as possible. I will use everything I have learned from these shows in order to "survive". Now I won't really be at a bare minimum, the supplies will be at hand but I will try my best to avoid them. I'm going to bring a magnesium firestarter rod to start fires, I will also try and trap and kill my meals! If you've ever been in the hunting section of Dick's Sporting Goods you know that feeling you get seeing all this kind of stuff. It makes you wanna live outdoors for a week, no matter how miserable it may turn out to be its the experience and adventure feel that you want.

Which is your favorite survival show?

This is a perfect example of the manly awesome survival deeds/tips that you can put to work in the wild! (Yes this is a little extreme but come on, who doesn't wanna do something like that? Only a real badass can pull stuff like that off. So besides setting your own arm on fire, camping and survival, calls for hunting which is something I always wanted to do. Bear Grylls makes fried up snake sound so tasty! But all in all, I can't wait for my trip and to stock up on supplies to make this trip as cool and survival like as possible.

Naked and Afraid is a fun one to watch. Man vs Wild with Bear Grylis is like Idaho. I'm kidding. Fun stuff to watch!

Good article, I like Les Stroud, his resourcefulness is astounding, never seen Dual Survival, looks interesting. Bear Grylls is regarded largely as a showman in Britain, and the whole thing about him misleading viewers has somewhat stained his reputation here in Britain.

If you can, check out Ray Mears on Youtube, he's probably the best Bushcraft expert in the world.
