TV Comedy Online

Updated on August 23, 2012

Have you ever wanted to watch your favorite TV comedies online? It's actually not that difficult to do, if you know where to look. Below I have listed my favorite TV comedies that can all be found on Hulu or on their individual television network website.

Before you get too excited you need to realize that many of the TV networks do put some restrictions on which episodes you can watch. Many times they restrict the shows by season, or by number of shows. None the less you can still watch many of your favorite TV comedies online, especially if you are a Hulu Plus member.

10. Parks and Recreation

The comedians who created The Office and Saturday Night Live have now combined their skills to create the show called Parks and Recreation. Amy Poehler from Saturday Night Live and Baby's Mamma plays Leslie Knope, a mid-level government employee. Leslie takes on the city as she tries to convert an abandoned construction area into a community park. Meanwhile a camera crew documents her every move for their upcoming documentary.

9. Community

This comedy is about a diverse group of students attending the Greendale Community College. Jeff Winger played by Joel McHale from Talk Soup is a lawyer who has his degree revoked and decides to go back to school. There he forms a study group where each member begins to learn more and more about each other and themselves. This quirky group of community college students will keep you laughing the whole time.

8. 30 Rock

This comedy show is about Liz Lemon who struggles to deal with life in a studio at NBC's 30 Rockefeller Plaza, hence the name 30 Rock. Tina Fay plays Liz who is a writer for a show called the Girlie Show. Liz's boss dies and is replaced with Jack Donaghy who is played by Alec Baldwin who demands to have a few changes done the show. Jack Donaghy changes a few actors and re-brands the show, which stretches Liz to the edge. Fortunately Liz has a few unique friends in the studio to help her out, or perhaps they cause more trouble than they are worth.

7. The Daily Show

This may sound odd, but this is a show that presents fake news and makes you laugh in the process. The Daily Show uses recent news headlines and political figures to create sarcastic monologues. They also present interviews with celebrities and even political figures. The Daily Show has done well and has won several Emmy's and other awards

6. Modern Family

This fun and light-hearted comedy showcases the many different types of families you find in today's world by telling their hilarious stories. You will meet a gay couple and their daughter, a straight couple and their three kids and a multicultural couple. The three families have their stories documented in a documentary style with cut-a-ways to interviews. This is a fantastic show and if you haven't already started watching it you should really start.

5. The Simpsons

The Simpsons is one of America's favorite TV comedies. The show has been on television for over 20 years. We were first introduced to The Simpsons during the Tracey Ullman Show in 1987. On December 17, 1989 the Simpson family debuted their own show and became an instant success. The Simpsons takes place in a town called Springfield which is pretty much the average American town. The series follows the family made up of Homer the father, Marge the mother, Bart the son, Lisa the daughter and Maggie the baby, as well as many of the towns' citizens. This hilarious TV comedy has become a pop icon than many guests celebrities have appeared on over the years. If you haven't seen or heard of The Simpsons, you have likely been living under a rock for the past 20 years.

American Dad! was created by Seth MacFarlane who is also the creator of the very popular TV comedy, Family Guy. American Dad! is about Stan Smith who is a CIA agent on the constant look out for terrorism. Stan takes his love for America to the extremes and is pretty much willing to do anything to protect his country. As he does his best to protect America, he also manages to live with an alien, manage his marriage, put up with his dorky son, and deals with his rebellious daughter.

3. Saturday Night Live

Saturday Night Live is a very popular sketch comedy that has been on TV since 1975. Many famous people like Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase, Bill Murray, Eddie Murphy, Martin Short, Damon Wayans, Joan Cusack, Robert Downey Jr., Conan O'Brien, Mike Myers, David Spade, Chris Farley, Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Will Ferrell, Jimmy Fallon, Tina Fey, Maya Rudolph, and Amy Poehler got their start on the show. SNL is a unique sketch comedy show since it is still filmed live. This is a really funny TV comedy that you can now watch online. It's also a great show to watch if you want to see the up-in-coming comedy talent.

2. The Office

The Office is based on the British series that has the same name. The show focuses on the daily interactions of a group of eccentric office employees that work at a paper company. The manager Michael played by Steve Carell thinks he's the greatest person on Earth which, of course, is completely untrue. His staff are a bit concerned over Steve Carell's character, but they themselves are constantly running into problems as well. You can follow the employees of this paper company as the fall in love, sabotage each other, pretend to know-it-all, and anything else you can think of. These characters will keep you entertained for hours.

1. Family Guy

This politically incorrect and hilarious TV comedy is absolutely brilliant. Family Guy is an animated series that showcases the Griffen family. At first this may sound a lot like The Simpsons, but it has nothing in common except that it's animated and about a family. Stewie the youngest is a sadistic baby that is constantly trying to destroy his mother. Chris, the son takes after his father which means he is fat and isn't the smartest crayon in the box. Meg desperately wants to be accepted by people, but no one is afraid to say how much they hate her. The Griffen family also has a talking dog named Brian who watches after Stewie. Brian enjoys a martini and is always trying to get his life in order. Peter, is basically nuts or possibly just really stupid but he is always getting his family in trouble. Lastly, the mother Louis is probable the only sane one, except for her attempts to manage her crazy family.
