TV for Toddlers

Updated on March 15, 2014

There are many shows nowadays made specifically for toddlers. Disney Channel has Disney Junior with shows like Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Little Einsteins, Special Agent Oso, Babar, and others. Nickelodean has Nick Jr. with shows like Dora the Explorer, Team Umizoomi, Max and Ruby, Olivia, Go Diego Go, and others. The shows my son likes the best, however, are those on the Sprout Channel. For me (I have Comcast), Sprout is on channel 128. It's an all day cartoon channel for kids and my son LOVES it.

Sprout Live Shows

Sprout is a combination of live shows and cartoons. The live shows during the day are hosted in turns by Kelly, Sean, Liz, and Dennisha with the help of their friend, Chica. The live show at night is hosted by Nina and Lucy.

Every morning from 6-9 there is Sprout's Wiggly Waffle. It takes place around a waffle where every spot opens up like a window to reveal songs, skits, jokes, and daily Sproutlet picks.

Every morning from 9-12 there is The Sunny Side Up Show. One of the hosts will do birthday wishes, crafts, and share things sent in from online viewers.

Every afternoon from 2-4 there is The Super Sproutlet Show. Sportacus (from Lazy Town) and the newest member to Sprout, Bean, host the show. Bean bikes around the country finding Sproutlets who are active and good to the earth to feature them on the show.

Every afternoon from 4-6 there is The Sprout Sharing Show. It is hosted by a group of hand puppets who are promoting sharing, imagination, and family interaction.

Every evening from 6-9 there is The Good Night Show. Nina hosts the show with her friend Lucy. Every night is a different theme featuring songs, games, stories, and more. Nina sometimes even teachers some sign language or some Spanish.

The ones with asterisks (*) are my son's favorites. Although he pretty much likes them all. :)

My Son's Absolute Favorite

My son's #1 favorite show by far is Caillou.

Caillou is about a 4-year old boy who lives with his mom, dad, and 2-year old sister, Rosie. He is your typical 4-year old, becoming a big helper for his sister, learning to a ride bike, going to daycare and thinking about school, playing with his friends, and just growing up and being curious about the world around him.

I have Comcast and it's on channel 128.

This is the link for their website.

This is such a great channel with great learning shows for kids. It's basically an extension of PBS.

I'm not familiar with the Sprout channel, but my two-year-old niece cannot get enough of Caillou! Great hub.
