Updated on December 2, 2017

Xhyniie has been a KPOP fan for 3 years and K-drama fan for 14 years. She enjoys writing about the Korean entertainment industry.

Another genre of K-Dramas that we are very addicted to are musical dramas. In fact, the lead characters of these dramas are engaged in music and members of KPOP groups. And what makes other musical K-drama’s unique is that because the leads amazing talents especially those we are only familiar about their acting.

Moreover, fictitious bands and musicians became popular in the K-Drama world. However, we can only see them performed in the 10 to 20 episodes of these dramas. So, let’s take a look of the most popular Korean musical dramas.

13. Entertainer

This is a musical drama wherein Ji Sung plays the character of a director of KTOP Entertainment. At the peak of his career, he chooses to become independent but then faces a lot of hardships and loses everything he has. On his way of fixing his life, he meets Kang Min Hyuk, a talented high school student and promises to turn him into a big star. What complicates the story is that Min Hyuk is an ex-convict. Through ups and downs, Ji Sung have finally debut the band, “Entertainer” together with Min Hyuk’s friends and sister Hyeri.

I have watched the teaser of this drama through instagram. Then I was amazed by Ji Sung and Hyeri’s stunt inside a grocery store (at that time I didn’t knew that Kang Min Hyuk is one of the cast). So I write it down on my list and wait for the release of the first episode.

What makes it different from previous musical dramas is that one of the main characters is an ex-convict. In addition, his sister is also a member of the band. Can you give me a drama with the same plot?

12. You're Beautiful

This is actually the best musical dramas that I am highly recommending to you. I haven’t included this on my list before because I have written a bunch of hubs that already mention this drama. But since you are new here and was brought here because you have search for the best Korean musical-romance-comedy dramas to date so I added it on my list.

What makes it different from others on the list is that it is a gender-bender drama and they have actually performed a mini concert to thank their fans. Who are the cast? Park Shin-hye plays the role of twins, the one is a nun and the other is a singer. Since the other half is in abroad (Go Mi-nam), Go Min-nyu have to pretend as his brother to joined A.N. Jell.

A.N. Jell is a popular boy group in South Korea headed by its handsome leader Hwang Tae-kyung with its members Jeremy and Kang Shin-woo. The story revolves on the life of its band members towards its journey of protecting Go Mi-nam as her secret was revealed. Furthermore, it involves love triangle, nope, because the three of them have fallen now for Mi-nam. There are also funny moments that will make you laugh until you finish watching all episodes.

11. Cantabile Tomorrow

This is the Korean adaptation of the Japanese manga Nodame Cantabile. Honestly, I watched this because of Joo Won and Shim Eun-Kyung (I’ve first saw her on Miss Granny). She is really great in doing romance-comedy-musical drama and movies such as Miss Granny which also involves music. As for the lead actor, of course there is no doubt on his acting especially when he plays the lead role of Good Doctor and 7th Grade Civil Servant.

The story revolves around the life of two university piano major students Yoo-Jin and Nae-ll. Yoo-jin. The two of them accidentally meet when Yoo-jin gets drunk and falls asleep on Nae-ll doorsteps. This unexpected meeting results into Nae-ll falling in love with Yoo-jin and following her around the university.

So this drama has also romance and comedy as what we always expect in K-dramas. Furthermore, if you have watched Beethoven Virus and enjoy it then surely you will also like this drama.

10. Monstar

Monstar is the first drama series produced by music channel "Mnet".

The story revolves around the lives of seven ordinary teenagers who are injured psychologically and heal themselves through the power of music.

Seol-chan, is a member of a popular K-pop Men in Black. He was provoked into pushing a crazy diehard fan. The scene which was witnesses by some students goes viral and his reputation plummets. To solve this scandal, his agency advised him to quietly attend school for a while.

He meet Min Se-yi, a new transfer student from New Zealand, who draws attention in the school for both her talent and oddness. Misunderstandings occur between Seol-chan, Se-yi, Jung Sun-Woo and their other classmates. But in the midst of all the chaos, they find a common interest which connects them to each other: music. In line with this, they formed a band named Color Bar.

Through music, they learn to soothe the pain inside them, and to open each of their souls.

It is the second installment in cable channel tvN's new line of youth-targeted programming "Oh! Boy" Project, which features a line-up of handsome ("flower boy") leading men.

Joining him is Kwon Ji-hyuk, chic Lee Hyun-soo, playboy Kim Ha-jin, silent Jang Do-il and baby-faced Seo Kyung-jong.
