When he's not writing poetry or political articles, Ralph fills his time by researching various topics that are influencing society today.

Disney announced that another Star Wars trilogy project has been greenlighted. The studio struck a deal with Director Rian Johnson to develop a fourth trilogy. Rian is currently under contract with Disney and is the Director for the upcoming “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” movie which will be in theaters December 15th, 2017. He and his collaborative partner, Ram Bergman, will write and direct the new grouping of movies. No release dates were provided by Disney on the upcoming series.

The new films will follow episode IX, but the storyline will change. The current story which is focused on and aging Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia, plus the still developing story of Rey and Kylo Ren will likely end in the current series. The new trilogy will introduce a whole new set of characters from a corner of the Star Wars universe previously unexplored. Fans of the movies are already speculating on what this could include. The Star Wars universe has expanded significantly since the original movie debut and the options for story development are vast.

Fan Speculation

The internet has already exploded with stories about the possibilities of where this unexplored area could be found. Different fan groups are already lobbying for a tale based on the Old Republic, a story about the origins of the Sith and the Jedi, and exploring the darker side of the universe. The potential for fantastic battle scenes with armies larger than anyone has even seen before could easily lure many to support exploring the Star Wars world of old. Other approaches look at the varying creatures that have come and gone throughout the series. Viewers have seen the Wookie home planet, an entire planet of clones, and ancient monuments and wreckage scattered across the galaxy which might be worthy of further exploration.

At this point, it’s almost certain that fans will have to patiently wait for the December release and the late 2019 release of the final chapter before any news of this new project start to surface. Hopefully the production team won’t make the same mistakes they made with Episode VII. Although it was a new movie, the storyline felt oddly familiar and many die-hards felt it lacked originality. The release of Rouge One in 2016 was received very well because it filled in many of the gaps between the two early trilogies. It also was filled with originality; something that fans demand and expect. It’s clear that first forty years of Star Wars are only the beginning and the studio can keep the magic alive, no one knows how long of a run it could have. The Force is strong with this series.

Ha ha. I like how you ended. The force is strong in man and will always be strong in things of a mystical nature. I'm looking forward to the next one. More in this or new series, you say? bring them on! Nice to get this info. Won't say I'm a fan yet, but I do like them. Peace.
