'The Haves and the Have Nots' Returns and Picks Up Where It Left Off
Tyler Perry's The Haves and the Have Nots returned on OWN on Tuesday, January 8, 2019. It was good to see that most of the scenes picked up where they left off during the finale on November 6, 2018.
Benny Still Alive
During the finale, viewers saw that Hanna made Benny leave the house. He was shot by the Malones and left for dead. During the premiere on January 8, 2019, Hanna finds out that Benny had been shot, but he was still alive. He was hospitalized.
When Mitch comes to the hospital to see Benny, Hanna tries to make him leave after she learns that Mitch's family is responsible for Benny's near death experience. However, Mitch stays at the hospital, but he does not sit with Hanna and her friend Derrick.
Veronica Still Alive
During the finale, Veronica ended up fighting with Jeffrey and she falls over the railing. Jeffrey's friend who is a nurse tries to help Veronica, but she tells him to take his hands off of her because of his lifestyle and his attraction to Jeffrey.
Nurse Maddison tells Jeffrey several times to call an ambulance, but he just stands and looks over the railing. He wouldn't give the address of the house. He just walks away from the scene where his mother lies on the floor.
Veronica makes it to the hospital and is her usual self when the FBI shows up to question her about the car bombing that caused the death of Erica and the hospitalization of David. When the FBI asks her what happened to land her in the hospital, she lied and said she fell. She did not disclose that she and her son were fighting at the time.
David was in the hospital most of last season. He was told in the premiere of this season that he could probably go home. As of now, there are three cast members in the same hospital: Benny, Veronica and David.
Candace and Charles Connects
Candace has mixed emotions after sleeping with Charles. She cries and then her mood changes. When she gets a phone call about Benny, Charles insists on going to the hospital with her.
Landon gives the hospital an excuse that the soon to be president will visit sick children. Charles and his entourage go to Hanna as they wait for news about Benny.
Katheryn Threatens Two Hotel Employees
Katheryn uses her influence to threaten hotel manager Broderick and bartender Rocky about deportation. She insists that they engage in a threesome.
Her ultimate aim is to use them to get back at Candace. Rocky has been working closely with Candace. Katheryn wants the men to turn Candace over to the police for running a prostitution ring in her hotel.
The men are reluctant to go to the police because they don't want to get into trouble with the law themselves.
Jim Cryer goes to the hospital to tell David that the Feds know that Sarah gave him documents taken from the police evidence room that shows that he, Katheryn, David, and Veronica were involved in district attorney Jennifer Sallison's death way back in Season 4.
In another scene, viewers saw that Wyatt is still under close watch in Katheryn's house. He is trying his best to get from under his house arrest imposed on him by his parents.
