It's not often that an amazing cast works so well together in all aspects of action, comedy and adventure. But The Hitman's Bodyguard does it.
Before going in to the film there as aspects from the trailers that do make you think of the characters, their interactions and backgrounds. Unlike most films this doesn't spoil anything even though your expecting it. When it does come you still love it and it still adds more to the film.
One thing that makes this film special is the character development. Each character interacts with the other superbly, which in turn adds to the story, which affects the way you view certain characters. One minute you like a charter , the next you love them, the next you hate them. The way the character's talk make you feel like your there with them in the story which not many films can pull off. It also creates the question who is the real bad guy Micheal or Darius? Which one is doing the worst deeds?
The actions scene are tremendous. There are mixed scenes from car shoot outs, street shoot outs, even long ranged shoot outs. This give the film a different scene of dynamics and aspirations. Not just does this film going to have great action, great shoot outs it also has great comedy. There are some real laugh out loud moments here and comedy bits for everyone weather its about love, women, men, sex, blood, shooting people, injures, it's all in there and add such a bonus to the grounding of the film.
Ryan and Samuel
Ryan and Samuel were the perfect choice for the roles of Micheal and Darius. Both have different backgrounds, personas, development and structuring in their acting. Within the film their interactions are amazing and it was so good the writer said they could improvise in some scenes. Now that is just asking for trouble and funny moments.
Although the story feels a bit familiar and like other films have already done something similar, this is new and so much better. Just look at the characters and the cast playing them and you already know this is going to be a next level film. Not just that but the level of detail in the story, within the character's actions, interpretations and development makes this and outstanding story.
As I mentioned above the action scenes are amazing and there are so many different type. This keeps you on the edge as you don't know what type is coming next or how it's going to end.
Again the film is so funny because to the characters and the cast pull it of so well. I think that if the cast was different then this could have been a completely different review. But luckily it was A quality casting and they pulled off all of the jokes perfectly.
I do wish they would have introduced Micheal background more. We know little about him and his past but not that much. Whereas with Darius we learned a lot more, plus a flashback which added to the character. I would have liked to have seen a little more to Micheal and about his time in the service and government.
The film is a good length but it was so good I wish it could have gone on for longer. There was still so much they could have done and introduced which would have kept the passing of the film perfect and continued the stride. Another twenty minutes would have been perfect.
The Hitman's Bodyguard is a must see not just for the casting fans but as a standalone film it is sublime. You will not be disappointed there is too much, laughing enjoyment and crazy action.
