Beautiful Female Athletes 2
More of the hottest women in the world in sports
Here is my second article about the most beautiful women in sports.
This time, tennis players don't dominate, it looks like volleyball players take the lead.
And California gets well represented as well.
Gabrielle Reece is an American professional volleyball player, sports announcer, and model
Remember when Gabrielle Reece was the "it" girl?
This six foot two, one hundred and fifty five pound woman was everywhere for awhile.
She was born on January 6th, 1970 in La Jolla, California.
In 1989, ELLE magazine named her one of the five most beautiful Women in the World.
She even dated Dean Cain, who was Superman at the time.
And here we have another volleyball player, Misty May-Treanor.
Another California girl, Misty was born on July 30, 1977 in Los Angeles.
Along with her partner Kerri Walsh, Misty is one half of "the greatest beach volleyball team of all time" and together they were the gold medalists in beach volleyball at the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympics.
Her father Bob "Butch" May was a member of the 1968 US volleyball team, and her mother, Barbara May, was a nationally ranked tennis player who later played beach volleyball.
American pole vaulter Mary Sauer was born on October 31st, 1975 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
In June 2001, this Halloween baby became the third female American to break the 15-foot barrier.
American swimmer Natalie Coughlin was born on August 23, 1982 in Vallejo, California.
She became the first American female athlete in modern Olympic history to win six medals in one Olympics at the 2008 Olympics.
Natalie is also the first woman to win a Gold Medal in the 100 meter backstroke in two consecutive Olympics.
She has a total of eleven Olympic medals.
American soccer defender and member of the United States women's national soccer team, Heather Mitts was born on June 9th, 1978 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
She currently plays for the Philadelphia Independence of Women's Professional Soccer (WPS).
As a member of the United States Women's National Team (USWNT) she won two Olympic Gold Medals at the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympics.
Her fiancé is Carolina Panthers quarterback, A. J. Feeley.
Professional mountain biker Niki Gudex was born on July 19th, 1978 in Guildford, England (she grew up in urban Sydney, Australia).
In addition to being a professional mountainbiker, Niki is a model and a graphic designer.
She was listed in FHM's "100 Sexiest Women in the World" in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006.
American freestyle skier Kristi Leskinen was born on February 10, 1981 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania.
Kristi also appeared in FHM's 100 Sexiest Women in 2005.
You can keep up with her at her website: http://kristileskinen.com/
Canadian pair skater Jamie Salé was born on April 21, 1977 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Jamie and her partner David Pelletier were "The Canadians" involved in the 2002 Olympic Winter Games judging controversy.
Really not much of a controversy to me.
C'mon, the French judge admitted that she had been pressured into giving the long program to the Russians in exchange for a first-place vote for the French ice dancing team.
Surfer and model Malia Jones was born on March 27, 1977 in Loma Linda, California.
(What's that...three California girls so far?)
Even though she was born in Cali where there are most righteous waves, she moved to Kailua, Hawaii when she was two.
At the age of fifteen, she won the girls division of the United States Amateur Surfing Championship.
People magazine named her one of the "50 Most Beautiful People" and Esquire magazine named her one of America's "10 Sexiest Athletes".
She also appeared as a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model.
Born and raised in Kailua-Kona, HawaiiLokelani McMichael is a real well rounded athlete.
She's an American triathlete, surfer and model and in 1995, she became the youngest female to finish the Hawaii Ironman.
This achievement put her in the Guinness Book of World Records as the youngest woman to finish the Ironman.
In 2005, she was listed in the Maxim Hot 100.
Her real name is Lokelanikuu'leimakamae.
High jump competitor Amy Acuff was born on July 14, 1975 in Port Arthur, Texas.
This six foot two, one hundred and forty pound stunner competed in the 1996, 2000, 2004, and 2008 Summer Olympics as a member of USA Track and Field.
She was inducted into the UCLA Bruins Hall of Fame in 2007.
In 2003, in Zürich she set her personal best record of 2.01 meters.
(that's about 6.5 feet for the metrically challenged...like me)
She has appeared in Esquire, Maxim and FHM.
Professional halfpipe snowboarder Gretchen Bleiler was born on April 10, 1981 in Toledo, Ohio.
Gretchen started snowboarding at the age of eleven and she won more halfpipe competitions in 2003, 2005 and 2006 than any other female snowboarder.
She is a three time X Games gold medalist and won the superpipe at Winter X Games XII in January of 2008.
Gretchen appeared in the February 2004 issue of FHM.
Women's skeleton competitor Mellisa Hollingsworth was born on October 4th, 1980 in Eckville, Alberta.
If you don't know what skeleton is (like I didn't), it's a wintwer sliding sport where you get on a small sled and ride down a frozen track....face down.
Mellisa won the bronze medal in the women's skeleton event at the 2006 Winter Olympics and a silver medal at the 2000 FIBT World Championships in Igls, Austria.
Nadine Broersen was born on April 29th,1990 in Hoorn, Netherlands.
She is a Dutch track and field athlete who competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the women's heptathlon event.
Nadine finished 13th with a personal best score of 6319 points.
Although she was born in Leningrad, Soviet Union, Tatiana Grigorieva was an Australian pole vaulter.
I say "was" because she is retired now.
She was active for 10 years and during that time she won the 1999, 2001 and 2002 Australian Championships and the 2002 Commonwealth Games.
After retiring she went on to appear on Dancing with the Stars (Australia) six times and she was "Olympia" on the 2008 revival of Gladiators in Australia.
American soccer player, Olympic gold medalist, and FIFA Women's World Cup champion Alexandra Patricia "Alex" Morgan was born on July 2nd, 1989 in San Dimas, California.
She and Mia Hamm are the only American women to score 20 goals and collect 20 assists in the same calendar year.
