The Oscars - Who do you think should have won?

Updated on February 28, 2009

The Oscar awards are over.  Do you think the right actors, actresses, writers, producers and directors were acknowledged this year?

Me. I was glad to see Sean Penn grab an Oscar for his performance in MILK.  Years ago I noticed Penn's talent.  I'm talking more than a decade ago and right after he and Madonna split as a couple.

I didn't see the movie "The Reader" so I cannot speak on Kate Winslet's win as the best actress in a leading role.  I know she's a big name in the industry.  Anyone at the blogs catch "The Reader"?  What did you think of Kate Winslet's performance?

Slumdog Millionaire took home a lot of awards.  It's about a teenager in Mumbai, India who's a contestant on a game show similar to Who Wants to be a Millionaire.  He's suspected of cheating.  During the investigation into his knowledge, events from his life are revealed.  Each year there seems to be one movie that grabs more awards than any other movie.  This year that movie was Slumdog Millionaire.  Curious if you saw it and what you thought about the movie.

Personally, I wanted to see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button grab a few awards.  I truly enjoyed that movie and think Brad Pitt did an excellent job portraying Benjamin.  It was a bit of a tear jerky too.

Heath Ledger won for The Dark Knight.  A sad win, but I'm glad he got the award.  My son talked about Heath Ledger's performance for weeks after he saw The Dark Knight.  He did do a great job in the role of The Joker although I thought the movie was a bit dark (Yeah . . . I know . . . it's in the title).

Well.  I hope your favorites took home some shine last Sunday night, and that you get out and enjoy good movies you're looking forward to seeing this year!

Undoubtedly, "Doubt" was the best picture.

I liked "The Reader" and "Slumdog" also. I haven't seen "The Wrestler" yet. "Milk" was a great movie also, as was "Frozen River," Frost/Nixon" and "The Visitor." I thought "Benjamin Button" was good but too long.
