The Real Housewives of Atlanta

What is this?

“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” is a TV reality show that originally aired on Bravo cable network on October 7th, 2008. It has been ranked one of the top rated reality shows on cable TV.

Who are the real housewives of Atlanta?

The show revolves around a cast of women and their families living the fast-paced, high society lifestyle in the Atlanta metropolitan area, the original casts members of the first season episodes were Sheree Whitfield, NeNe Leakes, Kim Zolciak, Lisa Wu-Hartwell, and DeShawn Snow. Being rich don’t make you classy

What’s up with these ladies? Are they for real or they creating this high intensity drama just for the reality show? Is this really reflective of the general population of wealthy upper class housewife’s in Atlanta?

I like watching the show because it’s entertaining and I like to see how the other half lives, I like to see black women rise up in society and get recognition for their work. Unfortunately this reality show loss some flavor when they allow the episodes to be so raunchy with such foul, degusting, language. I can’t enjoy the show because the filthiness of these words leave an undesirable taste in my mouth, and a unsettledness in my spirit, it leave me feeling degusted and disappointed with these women that they would allow themselves to be lowered to that standard.

These women are beautiful, intelligent, business minded and sophisticated women and yet they allow themselves to be cast in such a negative light in order to achieve notoriety and fame. It’s also very disgusting and demeaning to see how much women of wealth especially our black women portraying the same old stereotypical role, so society can continue to hold our African American Sisters in the same small box as they have for years.

Some of these women are loud, obnoxious, and hood like. I guess the saying continues to be true in that “you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make them drink”, or “you can take the girl out of the hood but you can’t take the hood out of the girl”.

I expected to see some refinement in these affluent black women but it’s the same nonsense they are portraying, they are running after the mighty buck by whatever means, treating people like crap, sleeping with other people husband and bragging about it, being selfish, conceited, rude, obnoxious, childish, backstabbing, and just plain uncouth.

I guess they want to always keep the drama going but it only serve to keep the negative stereotype about black women going strong in the minds of people, and send the wrong message to children and young adult. Where’s their dignity? None of these ladies for their wealth is truly happy and content it’s mostly a façade (artificial, deceptive front), their worth is only in money and things, they do not have much depth or substance, and they are very shallow and materialistic.

What’s their legacy? I would really like to see more substance in some of these women, better character to show young people and the world that black women has class, and they can handle adversity and triumph in a positive way without the cussing and the dog fights, the nasty attitudes, and especially the foul languages.

I can’t stand to hear no one call another person the “B” word especially one female to another female, it’s so degrading and insulting. Can’t these women try and live above the norm and expectation of the typical stereotype black woman, and show that you can be different, funny, creative, successful, and even dramatic in a clean and wholesome environment. If they would step it up a notch they would earn more of people respect and adoration is it too much to ask for these women to raise their standard and be a positive role model for our young people today.

Is money more important that respect or dignity?

This is a reality show, I understand this, and you want to keep your audience engaged so they will watch the show from week to week and build a strong following, but it can be done with class. Is this what our society is craving? I personally want more clean fun entertainment, I want my mind to expand with creativity and understanding as I watch women in the business world and high society, instead of dealing with the same old  familiar lifestyle, show us something new, be a trend setter not a follower.

You can create drama in a clean and subtle way if you know how to truly act, even in a reality show. What about their kids and the example they are setting for them? I shutter to think how they are going to turn out in life because kids tend to relive their parents lives, (especially the mothers) as they grow.

Who are these women and the message they are sending;

Kim Zolciak

How is Kim considered to be a housewife? She’s not married, she’s a husband stealer, she’s one messed up woman, trying to act sophisticated but clearly she’s not. Kim has one of the nastiest mouths around on that show, she cusses like a sailor and she very rarely makes sense. Kim smokes like crazy, she’s very much into her own self image, which is nothing anyone should want to replicate, she’s very much a liar and she’s a very ungrateful person. It’s all about money and possession with her, she thinks she’s God gift to mankind, I think that’s their entire attitude and that sucks.

NeNe Leakes

She is a true hood girl but with style and flare. NeNe knows how to work the media and make it work for her, but she’s still doing it in a negative light. I enjoy NeNe although she’s loud, I want to see her speak with a cleaner mouth, and I must admit she’s not as bad as Kim.

Sheree Whitfield

What can I say about this woman? She think she knows it all and don’t like to take constructive criticism or advise, she is one conceited woman.

Kandi Burruss

She is more stable of the above three women and she’s genuine, I like her although she’s not as dramatic as the rest.

Kim, Sheree, and NeNe are of the original cast of the show “The Real Housewives of Atlanta”, these two women Cynthia Bailey and Phaedra Parks are the newest cast members this season.

These women are a cut above the rest, the one I would say rank the best as an elegant sophisticated woman of class is Cynthia Bailey, her life is chaotic, stressful and fast pace but she handle it with grace, tact, and poise, I can empathize more with her and her plight more than the rest of the women, she keeps it real.

In conclusion I just want to say this show has the potential to draw even a wider base of audience if they would do one thing, yes! Just clean up their mouths.

Thanks Guanta for stopping in and commenting on this hub. Unfortunately money is very seductive and people tend to loose their value and integrity in order to make it.

Hi jagandelight, thank you for you Hub. It's right on the money. Very well documented. Occasionally when I'm channel surfing and catch this show I often hope they are play acting. I think it might be money in today's world that drives people to just focus on the money and sell everything else!
