Daniel Goddard's firing continues to be big news

Last week, Daniel Goddard announced to his social media followers that he had been abruptly fired from The Young and the Restless after 13 years. The actor had not been involved in any meaningful storylines since his castmate and TV wife Christel Khalil went on recurring status last year. Soap Dirt is stating that viewers of the CBS daytime drama are overwhelmingly blaming the dismissal on Goddard not wanting to be paired romantically with Beth Maitland who portrays Traci Abbott. Neither of the actors has spoken out about the storyline that was abruptly halted but devotees of the show continue to speculate.

There have been unsubstantiated rumors that both Maitland and Goddard were against putting their characters together romantically. Many who watch The Young and the Restless thought this was inappropriate because Lily was Coleen's best friends and Traci was a mother figure to her. Some viewers had problems with the age difference yet saw no problem when Cane was with Lily who was much younger. There were stories that Beth Maitland was experiencing a lot of backlash and that she replied she was an actor and went with the script.

Daniel Goddard grieving over "Lane"

Daniel Goddard seems to be truly grieving over the end of "Lane." He continues to tweet photos of Cane and Lily during their good times together. Christel Khalil has been pretty silent about the situation but Soap Dirt quotes Tristan Rogers as saying, "It ain't over till it's over." Rogers portrays Cane's father Colin and it is believed that he is the one who began the hoax of the missing will pages. The actor did not elaborate on his words but time will tell if there is any meaning behind them. A few months back when Goddard was off the show, he tweeted about sometimes having to move on. Fans were not sure if he meant his character moving on without Lily, or if the actor were leaving The Young and the Restless.

When Khalil returned to the set, Goddard tweeted photos and a caption that read "Reunited and it feels so good." He truly believed the writers for The Young and the Restless were going to put Cane's family back together and was blinded when he was let go. This is why a number of viewers believe his firing had to do with Beth Maitland. Initially, it was Traci who was daydreaming about Cane and modeled the character in her latest book after him. This is why it was surprising when it was Cane who wanted the relationship to go to the next level andd Traci is the one who said they should remain friends.

Beth Maitland blamed for Daniel Goddard's firing

According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, some who watch The Young and the Restless are actually blaming Beth Maitland for Daniel Goddard losing his job. Maitland responded by reiterating that she had nothing to do with what happened but some people will only believe what they want. In July the actress defended herself against those who were bitterly against her pairing with Cane, now she is having to defend herself all over again. At this present time, Traci is busy with Jack searching for their half brother but it would be nice to see Ms. Abbott fall in love.

Bullies hide behind social media and it is unfortunate that Beth Maitland is taking the heat because "Lane" is no longer together. Instead of respecting this veteran actress she was put down by some who were simply cruel. The powers that be at The Young and the Restless could have recast the role of Lily and kept the Ashby family unit together but they did not. They never developed a story around Cane's son Sam, which viewers thought was pretty odd. It's even possible that Goddard made to much noise regarding the breakup of "Lane" and they paired him with Traci to get under his skin.

This is not a slight against the talented Ms. Maitland, but one never knows what is in the minds of the writers. Mal Young fired Doug Davidson, and sidelined Victor, and Michael while pushing the Rosales family on the viewers but it blew up in his face. Josh Griffith said he was going to bring back core families but the Ashby's have been totally annihilated. Some viewers thought perhaps Lily and Cane would reunite and leave town together but they did not. This is no reason to blame Beth Maitland because the writers have the final say and not the characters.
