Three Top Films/Movies With Twists

Updated on September 26, 2012

I don’t know about you, but I love a film that gets you guessing. Some are easier to guess, others lull you into a false sense of security and then smack you in the face with a plot twist you never expected.

Here are my thoughts on three really good films/movies which offer either an excellent twist, or just mess with your head.

Enjoy!

The Game

Ok, so I’m listing The Game first because it’s one of my absolute favourites when it comes to films.

Not only does it keep you puzzled the whole way through, but it entertains right to the end when it hits you with something you wouldn’t expect.

Without spoiling anything, The Game is about a rich guy played by Michael Douglass who has an incredibly boring life.

In an attempt to liven things up, his younger and more impulsive brother buys him a ticket to participate in ‘The Game’ for his birthday.

From the moment he calls the number on the ticket, his life turns upside down and you’ll spend the entire film wondering what the game is, who runs it and if it’s even a game at all…

Don’t worry, you won’t guess the ending. I’ve watched this about 4 times and could watch it again and again.

Conspiracy Theory

I’m not normally a Mel Gibson fan, but Conspiracy Theory really does cut the mustard.

A man obsessed with conspiracy theories has turned his entire life into a paranoid safe-house – from odd little habits to avoid being tracked, through to a fully intruder-proof home. But when he becomes the target of what he thinks is one of the biggest conspiracy theories yet, it will leave you wondering – is he crazy, or is this real?

The film is enjoyable to watch the whole way through, and the twist hits hard enough to surprise.

I’ve only watched this once, but it quickly took a top place on my list of films/movies with twists.

Fight Club

The best thing about fight club is that the film is amazing enough to not even need a twist, but when it hits it really hits.

Although the twist is an idea that has been done in several ways many times before, Edward Norton and Brad Pitt make this one of the best films of all time – twist or no twist.

Norton, an insomniac, teams up with Pitt to form an underground fight-club that gets a little out of hand.

As the underground club for fighting-for-fun grows bigger, their goals get more twisted until the film peaks in one of the most fantastic plot turnarounds ever.

Without wanting to spoil anything, all I can say is make sure you watch this film – it’s one of the best there is.

So there you have it

And remember... if you've done with those three, contact me - because I've got a whole list more.

Very true - but there are just so many to choose from it's tough! Usual Suspects is fantastic. When I first watched it, I had to watch it again twice before I got it *sheepish*

Good list, but I must say the Usual Suspects needs to be added to the list!

Fight Club was a great movie with one heck of a twist.
