Some people think she's a goddess, while others might call her a b***h. Nevertheless, no one can deny that Angelina Jolie is one of the most celebrated Hollywood actress in the last decade. She has received numerous awards, including an Academy Award, two Screen Actors Guild Awards and three Golden Globe Awards, and mentioned in Forbes as the highest-paid Hollywood actress in 2009 and 2011.

As an actress, Jolie was noted for her capabilities to play different roles, from a psychotic girl to a trigger happy gunner. Here are the top 10 movies that Jolie starring in.

Girl, Interrupted

The movie, some said, featured the best performance ever by Jolie in a motion picture. She made an exceptional portrayal of the flamboyant and irresponsible Lisa Rowe. For her exceptional performance, Jolie was awarded best supporting actress from Academy Award, Golden Globe, Broadcast Film Critics and Screen Actors Guild.


Her outstanding performance playing the role of Gia Carangi, the superstar model that died of AIDS, is one of the roles that launch her career in Hollywood scene. She was awarded with Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Awards for best performance by an actress in miniseries.

Due to emotional and physical exhaustion playing the complex character of Gia Carangi, Jolie had announced that she wouldn't keep pursuing career as an actress. She chose to enroll at New York University to study film making. However, her decision changed after "Gia" and "George Wallace" received great appreciation. She then resumed her career as an actress.


A Mighty Heart

Despite ‘A Mighty Heart’ considered a financial failure, Jolie’s performance in the movie is notably excellent. Her role as Mariane Pearl, the wife of kidnapped journalist Daniel Pearl, led to Santa Barbara International Film Festival Outstanding Performance Award and various nominations for best actress.



Working with director Clint Eastwood and playing a script written by J. Michael Straczynski, Jolie perform admirably in the inspired-by-true-story movie. She gets nominations for best performance by an actress in leading role from Academy Award, BAFTA, Broadcast Film Critics, Chicago Film Critics, Golden Globe, London Film Critics and Screen Actors Guild.


George Wallace

Her role as Cornelia Wallace, second wife of the famous former Governor of Alabama George Wallace, is a major breakthrough of Jolie’s career as an actress. She won Golden Globe Award for her supporting actress role, and also got nominated in Emmy Award.

"George Wallace" was directed by John Frakenheimer, who won an Emmy Award for it. Gary Sinise, playing the role of George Wallace, and Mare Winningham, playing the role of Lurleen Wallace (the governor's first wive), also won Emmies for their performances.

The collaboration of Jolie and Brad Pitt create memorable sensual action scenes in the movie. Lara Croft: Tomb Raider

Jolie excellently made to live the character of Lara Croft, the sexy gunner of the famous game Tomb Raider. She gets nominated in MTV Movie Awards for Best Female Performance and Best Fight. The movie itself went on to becoming the third most successful video game adaptation to date, grossing USD 274,703,340 worldwide. Due the success of Tomb Raider, a sequel was made, titled "Lara Croft Tomb Raider:The Cradle of Life". Jolie also played the role of Lara Croft in this sequel.



In the movie, Jolie played the role of Fox, the hot female agent of assassin guild called Fraternity. She mentors the main character Wesley Allan Gibson, played by James McAvoy, into becoming the best assassin in the world.



Jolie plays Evelyn Salt, a CIA agent that has been accused of being a Russian sleeper agent and goes on the run to try clear her name. Despite the mixed reviews of the movie, Jolie’s performance in the action scene is praised by critics. Salt is grossing for a worldwide total of USD 293,503,354.


Gone in 60 Seconds

Playing the role of Sara "Sway" Wayland, the former girlfriend of Nicholas Cage's character Randall "Memphis" Raines, Jolie made significant contribution to the movie’s success. ‘Gone in 60 Seconds’ comprise total gross revenue of USD 237,202,299 worldwide.

      Great list! Girl Interrupted is easily one of my favorite movies. She plays a very loveable psychopath! I loved Gia and Salt, too. This list made me realize what a diverse range she has as an actress. I think I'll rewatch a couple of these soon! Voted up.
