LJ Milan is books, movies, tv shows, anime, K drama's, history and life buff, who loves spreading his knowledge about all of those subjects.

Have you ever wanted to start watching anime? But didn't know where to start? I mean, that particular pool is too massive. You can browse for hours and still come up empty-handed. And it seems pretty impossible to choose where to start. Well, don't worry I got you covered.
I compiled this list of ten awesome anime to help you narrow your search. And whichever anime from them you choose you won't be disappointed.

1. Bleach

Number of episodes: 366

This anime is one of the big three anime. Big three anime are as follows One Piece, Naruto and Bleach. They carry that name because they are immensely popular. And because they were the ones that made anime boom in the west.

This anime is about Kurosaki Ichigo. A 15-year-old boy, who can see ghosts. One night his family was attacked by a Hollow (evil ghost), he gets turned into a shinigami (Japanese death god). By a shinigami, of course by the name of Kuchiki Rukia. Ad from then on he starts helping her because she lost her powers turning him into shinigami.

Back when I didn't even consider going into anime, a friend of mine brought this one to me and said to give it a go. This anime was the one that opened a world of anime to me. And for that, she will always have a special place in my heart.the

2. Overlord

Number of episodes: 39

This anime is about a gamer that is a fan of DMMORPG Yggdrasil. On the day of servers shut down he decides to stay until the end. Counting that he will be logged off when they shut it down. Unfortunately, that doesn't happen, and he is transported to an unknown world and is unable to log off. Did I mentioned that he is a skeleton? More appropriately, he is undead. And he has demons as his servants, who consider him to be a god.

This anime is awesome, I love the fact that the main character is actually a bad guy. He is so overpowered that nobody in this world can even compare to him. This anime shows how a person like that can be manipulated by those who are not as powerful as he is.

3. That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime

Number of episodes: 24

This anime is about Mikami Satoru, who gets stabbed. And while dying says a lot of stuff he didn't and did like. The next thing he knows he awakens in an unknown fantasy world. Where he is overpowered. He even becomes a family with a freakin' dragon.

This anime is actually about a good, kindhearted guy, who likes helping people. It draws parallels between his two lives and how he didn't waver in his convictions. Its also about kingdom building. Because he starts building a nation of monsters. But most of all this is one of those shows that will warm your heart.

4. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba

Number of episodes: 26

This anime is about Kamado Tanjiro, whose family is murdered by a demon. Except for his sister who was turned into a demon. So, he becomes a demon slayer in his quest to find the demon responsible. So he can turn his sister back into a human.

This story begins with a tragedy, but it's also a wonderful story about sibling love. And hope in a better tomorrow. The bond between brother and sister is almost palpable. And other characters fit into the story rather nicely.

I have to say that animation in this anime is exceptional. I thought I was watching a movie at times, rather than anime.

5. Bakuman

Numbers of episodes: 75

Mashiro Moritaka and Takagi Akito are boys who dream about being mangakas. Mashiro does drawings, and Takagi writes the stories. Also, Mashiro is in love with a girl (Miho) who dreams of being a voice actress. So they made a deal, that Mashiro and Takagi made a manga that gets an anime adaptation, Miho will play the lead role. and then they will get married.

This story is a romance story but unlike any others. You would have thought that that kind of arrangement will bring less drama but you would be wrong. But, still, this anime is a beautiful story about coming of age and the pure love of two young people. Plus, of course, how much work goes into creating a manga.

6. Haikyuu

Number of episode: 85

Hinata Shoyo and Kageyama Tobio are junior high students. Who joins the school's volleyball team. At first, they can't stand each other, but as time goes they develop a special tactic. One that allows them to overcome their differences.

Like all sports anime, this one is also about hard training, perseverance and above all growing up. This anime is a warm tale of friendship in the face of all the differences. And the search for life's definite possibilities.

7. Naruto

Number of episodes: 720

This anime is also on the big three list. And it's a story about a clumsy boy who dreams of becoming the most powerful ninja in his village, called the Hokage.

This anime has two anime series. First is Naruto, and it follows the titular boy through his early teen years. The second is Naruto Shippuden that follows his late teen years.

For an anime that is a kid show, it's pretty dark. I mean not even 10 episodes in, you realize how dark this world actually is. This is a story about a boy, who is shunned. And faces discrimination every day. His struggle to overcome the hurdle life has put in his path is both heartwarming and humbling. Especially because he never turns to evil. This anime shows us how much work some people have to put so they can just be accepted.

Towards the end of the second anime, it has some problems with the story. Thankfully last 20 episodes save the day a little. Never the less this anime needs to be watched. Above all else because it's one of big three anime. And Kishimoto Masashi sensei created a world that is unparalleled to any other. Yes, the number of episodes is massive, but you will get through them fast. And what's more important it will leave you wanting for more.

8. Irregular At Magic High School

Number of episodes: 26

The story is set in an alternate universe where magic is used with the help of modern gadgets like phones, guns... Shiba Tatsuya and Shiba Miyuki join the number one Magic high. And while Miyuki is a genius magic-user. Tatsuya can only use limited magic, but he is a genius engineer. The duo starts making the campus life interesting for everyone.

One thing you have to bare in mind this anime is slightly incestuous. Other than that, this anime is another fine examination of a condition we call human. It's a story about discrimination. And there is so much of it, you can't pick up who discriminates who. Also, this anime brought something new to the table after a long time, and that has to be respected.

9. Saga Of Tanya The Evil

Number of episodes: 12

This anime follows an unnamed atheist who gets killed. and comes face to face with God. Of course, he doesn't believe in Him and calls Him Being X. So he gets reincarnated as a girl named Tanya Degurechaff. In a world that looks a lot like WWI Europe. Where battles are fought with magic. Throughout the anime, God talks to her, but she alienates him more and more. In response, God creates obstacles for her.

This anime is second on this list where the bad guy/girl is the main character. And it's much more philosophical than others on this list. Also, it has the smallest number of episodes. Which can be appealing to many. This anime is also much darker then the rest of the list. And there are some pretty dark one's on here. Never the less it is worth your time.

10. Welcome To Demon School! Iruma kun

Number of episodes: 23

This anime follows Suzuki Iruma, a 14-year-old human. Who works odd jobs because his parents don't want to. Until one day they decide to sell him to a demon. After he hears of his fate, he envisioned a gruesome death for himself. But, that is not the case. All the demon wants is a grandchild. So, he pampers him. He even gets him into school. Of course, he has to be very careful that nobody finds out he is human. If he doesn't want to be eaten.

This anime has a peculiar animation style, I call it Cartoon Network style. Which is the style of animation I dislike the most. But, the thing is this anime has an engaging story. And a wonderful cast of characters I barely noticed the animation style.

And finally we are at the end of my list. I tried to include all genres, to make it easier on you. I hope it will help. Please, take a poll if you find this hub useful.
