Cypress Hill

Cypress Hill is an American rap group from South Gate, California and the first Cuban/Latin American rap group to have platinum and multi-platinum albums. Cypress Hill is one of the most well-known groups in West coast hip hop and hip hop period.

The group was originally called DVX (Devastating Vocal Excellence) and it's original members were Sen Dog, Mellow Man Ace, DJ Muggs and B-Real. After Mellow Man Ace left the group to pursue a solo career, the group changed the name to Cypress Hill.

Cypress Hill's released their debut self titled album in 1991 which sold over 2 million copies in the U.S. alone. Their second album, Black Sunday was released in '93 and debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. With their debut album still being in the charts, they became the first hip hop group to have two albums in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 at the same time. With the hit single, "Insane In The Brain" becoming a crossover hit, Black Sunday went triple platinum and sold over 3.5 million copies.

The members of Cypress Hill are still making music to this day; with their latest album, Rise Up being released in 2010 and a collaboration EP that was released in early 2012.
