The Everly Brothers were influenced by both country sounds and integrated current day rock and roll. They were known for their use of the steel-string guitar and harmony singing. The Everly Brothers were elected into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986 and later into the Country Hall of Fame in 2001.

Over the years they have released 21 studio albums, 2 live albums, 29 compilation albums and 75 singles.

Buddy Holly was an American signer and songwriter. Before his claim to fame, he was an opener for Elvis Presley and Bill Haley and His Comets. At that point his talents were recognized and he became a main act. In 1957 he had two number one hits: “Peggy Sue”, and “That Will Be The Day”. In 1958 he died in a plane crash and Don McLean wrote the song “The Day the Music Died” as a tribute. Holly greatly influenced later popular music artist including the Beatles.

Patsy Cline was best known for her country music style of singing. Late she crosses over into pop. She died at age of just 30 in a plane crash. She helped pave the way for other female artist. Her first hits were i 1957. She was the first female artist inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. She was ranked as one of the 100 greatest singers of all time. Her records have sold millions since her death.

Danny and the Juniors are a doo wop and rock and roll quartet. They originated from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The four original members were Danny Rapp, Dave White, Frank Maffel, and Joe Terranova. They formed in 1955. Some of their other hits included, Rock ‘n’ roll is Here to Stay, and Twistin’ USA.

Jimmie Rodgers

Jimmie Rodgers was an American country singer known mostly for is rhythmic yodeling. He was also known as the Singing Brakeman, The Blue Yodeler, and the Father of Country Music. He was one of the first three musicians to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1970. He was ranked into CMT’s 40 Greatest Men of Country Music in 2003.


Little Bitty Pretty One

Thurston Harris

Thurston Harris first appeared on a record in 1953. He originally was a vocalist for the Lamplighters. He broke away and started recording his own music in 1957. His hit, Little Bitty Pretty One was released on three different colored labels with no explanation. His second and final hit was “Do What You Did”.

Hula Love

Buddy Knox

Buddy Knox was known as an experimenter. He was one of the first to experiment with songs using several tracks. Other hits, besides Hula Love, was Party Doll, which sold over one million copies, and his next chart topping success, “Rock Your Little Baby To Sleep”. Know was elected to the Rockabilly Hall of Fame. He was voted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.

      I don't know much about these types of music but some of the names and songs are familiar. What I know I learned way past 1957 and I appreciate the resurrection of the memory. Thank you.
