Top Wes Craven Movies And Why We Love Them

Updated on September 4, 2015

Sleep. It is something we all love. It is peaceful, relaxing and rejuvenates us for the next day! It's also unavoidable and inevitable. Just imagine if you knew when you went to sleep there would be someone with razor sharp claws waiting to slit you from ear-to-ear. Yeah, well, sleep starts looking not so peaceful and inviting anymore. That is exactly why we love Nightmare On Elm Street. Freddy Krueger is the monster that terrorizes our dreams and we absolutely love it! He was the reason why as a child I had to wake my mother up in the middle of the night just so I could use the restroom! I remember her saying as clear as day, Why do you watch that stuff if it scares you so much? Uh, well, because it scares me so much! This movie definitely got my adrenaline going as a kid and gave me a reason to stay up late! -no one wants to sleep after watching this. No one.

Now this was an odd one. Here is a family that lives in a huge house. There are the parents, that seem to walk around in S&M gettup the whole entire time. At first I wasn't sure if I was watching the right film! Sure enough I was! Then you have the daughter that is dressed like a china doll straight from the box. Then you have some boy living in the walls. Oh, and let's not forget the people under the stairs. It starts off with this rag, tag crew that wants to rob this one house. Obviously the wrong house! Well, they end up getting more than they bargained for. The crew consists of a boy that tries to help the girl escape, all while being chased by the S&M couple. Talk about a bit out of the ordinary. Really though, I think with some sunshine and good ol' vitamin D, those people under the stairs should be fine!

The Hills Have Eyes, oh yes they do. This movie will make you never wanna take another back road again in your life! It might also make you never wanna drive through the desert again. A family is driving from Ohio to California. They stop at a little gas station in the New Mexico desert. They ask the attendant, Jeb, if there was a short cut. He tells them about a short cut, which they take, and their tires get punctured by hidden spikes. Then they get harassed by a bunch of mutants. I think the moral of this story is never put your stock in short cuts and don't trust a guy named Jeb to give you legitimate information.

A little known fact is that Scream was partly based off of the real life case of the Gainesville Ripper. Which makes it a little more eerie, if you ask me. This movie reminds you to be up on your horror film facts, OR ELSE! This film starts out with Casey babysitting, but she gets a prank call. When she answers a horror movie question wrong bad things happen.

Then you have Sidney Prescott who is terrorized next. The killer wears the infamous Scream mask and proceeds to wreak havoc. But alas, Deputy Dewey is here to save the day! While Scream has its thrills and chills, it also has a comedic undertone to it as well. So, what is your favorite scary movie?

This movie was definitely 'edge of the seat' material. It was also very graphic. Emma, John and their daughter Mari, who is a competitive swimmer, go on a vacation to their lake house. Mari borrows the family car to go see her friend Paige. Well while Mari and Paige hang out at a local store where Paige works, they meet Justin. Justin invites them back to his motel to smoke marijuana. After that all hell breaks loose. This movie definitely is full of thrills and suspense.

Ahh, you're in line for that red eye flight when you meet a charming a charming man named Jackson. You share nice conversation at the airport bar and find out he is sitting next to you on the plane. You think that is fabulous because at least you like the person that is sitting next to you. That usually does make flights go a lot easier. Then Jackson tells you he is a terrorist, which is definitely not something you wanna hear from the guy sitting next to you on a plane. It turns out you are instrumental in his plans (Oh joy for you!) and he'll stop at nothing to make sure they are completed.
