Top 10 anime of all time.

Updated on June 10, 2017

10. Fooly Cooly

To this day, I really don't fully understand what is going on in this cartoon. There are so many absurdities that one would have to question whether the originator was under the influence of some type of drug while doing this.

Despite the many inexplicable occurences, there are many actions and objects in this cartoon that are very symbolic to the history of japan and other aspects of real life.

In addition to the confusing things, there are parts that are just downright ludicrous. From smoking preteens, to a perverted stepdad, to a giant stone hand shown at the end of every episode, the absolute abnormalities of fooly cooly is sure to make anyone laugh and ponder life at the same time.

9. Non Non Biyori

This story follows the life of, Hotaru Ichijo, a fifth grader from the big city who decides to come to the country. It follows her life throughout the school year in a school with 5 other students(you read it right) aging from first grade to eigth grade-all in the same class.

Humor is ever present in this slice of life anime. From the running joke of the oldest sister being cute and mistaken for a lost child, to the oldest brother who gets no attention despite the disasters that happen in his life, to the youngest sister who's always being out bested by Hotaru who doesn't even realize there is a competition( to figure out who knows more about city life).

8. Durarara

Durarara follows the story of 2 old friends from elementary school. They meet up in high school as the main character moves to a big city to enjoy that kind of lifestyle. The story of one particular event is told through the perspective of several characters.

As time passes, it becomes obvious that there is more going on this city than a typical average city. There's a seemingly anonymous purposeless group called "The dollars". An inhumanly strong black Russian flyer salesman, and a motorcyclist with riding around the city trying to find her head.

7. Tegami Bachi (letter Bee)

Tegami Bachi follows the adventures a an adolescent boy named Lag Seeing. He is a kid who aspires to be like A letter bee named Gauche Suede who made a huge positive impression on him years earlier.

As a newly established Letter Bee Gauche delievers letters to clients. Though the letters are in fact letter, the delivery job is not an ordinary delivery.

Each Delivery has it's own set of obstacles in addition to the regular challenges of delivery which include, navigating a land of eternal night, facing energy draining monsters that are larger than life, and having to do combat with, his former idle, Gauche who seemingly has no memory of himself or any of his former friends.

In this seemingly post apocalyptic world Lag must discover how he can bring back his friend and idol, earn his living, and figure out what it means to be an adult, all at the same time.

6. Eden of the East

Kanon great series! I'm on episode 10 right now! Is there a major difference between the old and the new version?

I haven't seen Ajin or Knights of Sidonia. Ajin sounds more interesting based on the reviews. I like a good show where the government has hidden agendas.

Didn't know you were so into pokemon. I'll have to make remember that for future hubs.

I wasn't keen on Eden of the East but Death Note definitely deserves to be on the list. I really enjoyed a very short (22 episode) anime called Kanon. One of the best I've seen.

Ajin: Demi Human is pretty good, and Knights of Sidonia was great too. I haven't heard of most on this list. Bit disappointed that Pokemon didn't make the cut! :)

Tegami Bachi... Never heard of it. It's official that I need to explore the internet like I did in high school because I'm most likely to discover new anime to check out as opposed to browsing social media. But my point is I'mma check out Tegami to see if it appeals to me.

DBZ in the top three is no surprise, but I am surprised to see Naruto as number 1. The endless filler wasn't a problem for you?
