Highest Paid Actresses 2015

Actresses are getting their due in Hollywood these days, catching up to the male actors where the money earned is concerned, as proven by this list of 2015's highest paid actresses. Salaries are now more competitive than ever in Hollywood, based on box office promise (for success), award standing (perhaps, helpful to have an Academy Award), and a general choosing for those slightly higher budgeted movies.

An actresses salary is still a little behind the 8 ball, as the highest paid actress for 2015 edges into $52 million, whereas the highest paid actor (male) for 2015 edges into $80 million. A simple slice of the proof that actresses are still struggling pay-wise behind the male actors in the film industry.

But, on a brighter side, these actresses who have made it up on to this list have earned more than enough money in 2015 to feel satisfied with the work that they have done in their respective movie projects.

No.1 - Jennifer Lawrence - $52 Million

2015 Movies: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2, Joy

Jennifer Lawrence has managed to snag herself a rather large-ish share of profits for the Mockingjay - Part 2 release, the final in The Hunger Games film series. This, being down to Lawrence's ability to bring the audiences in from all points of the globe to see The Hunger Games movies, something which has shown throughout every Hunger Games film release from the beginning.

Lawrence also starred in another title in 2015 called Joy, a movie that brought her back to working with her Silver Linings Playbook co-star, Bradley Cooper.

Jennifer Lawrence is a box office draw, and seemingly bankable, hence her rather large earnings for 2015. However, due to this having been the last of The Hunger Games releases, it is likely that unless she strikes the big pay packets again in 2016, her earnings may drop slightly next year.

But, overall, a great year for Jennifer Lawrence, the highest paid actress for 2015.

No.2 - Scarlett Johansson - $35.5 Million

2015 Movies: Avengers: Age of Ultron

Scarlett Johansson has been on a role in Hollywood since she became Natasha Romanoff in the characters first appearance in Iron Man 2 in 2010. Which, has merely been the beginning where her performance playing this character is concerned, as since Iron Man 2 she has starred in Avengers Assemble (aka The Avengers, 2012), Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) and Captain America: Civil War (2016), all movies where she played that same Marvel character.

In 2015, she starred in but a single movie, Avengers: Age of Ultron, a movie which has paid her handsomely, along with back-pay from roles she played the previous year in Chef, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Lucy, Johansson has managed the reel in the earnings in 2015 which has gained her a top spot on the highest paid actresses list for the year.

Johansson has become a female action star in Hollywood thanks to the success of her role in the Marvel franchise movies, and she is also diverse in the field of acting starring in all genres of movies, and she does a good job every time.

Johansson is also a model, and has done commercial work for L'Oreal in the past, something which has bumped up her bank balance for some time thanks to her long standing relationship with the brand.

No.3 - Melissa McCarthy - $23 Million

2015 Movies: Spy

Melissa McCarthy has slowly been becoming a Hollywood comedic frontline actress where comedy is concerned, thanks to her good standing partnership with movie director Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, The Heat and Spy).

Melissa McCarthy has starred in a single movie movie in 2015, a movie directed by Paul Feig called Spy, a spy movie for the comedy genre. Due to McCarthy's favourable bankability at the box office she is earning big these days for her movie roles, something which has shown clearly for her 2015 earnings.

No.4 - Bingbing Fan - $21 Million

2015 Movies: Wan Wu Sheng Zhang, Lady of the Dynasty

Bingbing fan is a Chinese actress, singer and producer, having earned a handsome income for 2015 from her work activities.

Bingbing starred in two movies in 2015, Wan Wu Sheng Zhang and Lady of the Dynasty. Her work as an actress is paying her well thanks to her growing fame in the film industry, Chinese and American.

Bingbing is also a singer, having released her first album, something which has added to her fame, and on top of this she has also become quite the fashion icon, an added addition to her presence in the media, something which bodes well for a rising actress.

No.5 - Jennifer Aniston - $16.5 Million

2015 Movies: N/A

Jennifer Aniston is that one F.R.I.N.D.S actor/actress who has managed to make an acting career for herself in the movie business that has proven to last, thanks to her likability, screen-presence and talented acting portrayals.

Jennifer has not starred in any movies or TV roles in 2015, however she has been paid a rather handsome set of fees in 2015 for her upcoming roles in 2016, including Mother's Day, Mean Moms , Storks, Office Christmas Party and The Yellow Birds, most of which are still in pre-production.

As Jennifer has been quite the appealing draw in the comedy genre her pay packet has remained handsome, typically demanding a fee of $5 million per movie that she appears in. Not bad for an actress who plays the most part of her roles in the comedy genre, as this is one of the few genres which is known not to pay as much for its actors/actresses.

No.6 - Julia Roberts - $16.5 Million

2015 Movies: Secret in Their Eyes

Julia Roberts is an American actress who has dropped off the Hollywood spot-light since the early 2000's, but she has remained in movies popping up every year and still to this very day demands a rather hefty fee for her performance in movies.

Julia is an actress and model, known for endorsement deals which keep her bank balance on the rise alongside her movies which are keeping a steady flow of millions rolling into her back pocket.

In 2015, Julia starred in one movie called Secret in Their Eyes, and has also received her fees for her 2016 roles in Mother's Day, a role which reportedly earned her $3 million, and Money Monster.

Julia may not be the first actress that comes to mind when thinking of the active acting scene today, but she is finding her way onto the top earning actresses list year in year out, so she is certainly making her money somewhere.

No.7 - Angelina Jolie - $15 Million

2015 Movies: By the Sea

Angelina Jolie is a long-term serving Hollywood A-Lister, having starred in some of Hollywood's biggest blockbusters over the years, and she is still making money today off some of these previous movies where she received back-end points for profits for a certain few of these movies.

In 2015, Angelina Jolie starred in one small budget independent production starring alongside her husband, Brad Pitt. The movie is called By the Sea and had a production budget of $10 million, so guesses are that this was not where Jolie made the majority of her earnings for 2015. But, Jolie did direct, produce and star in the movie, so she does deserve some credit for this movie, however, it did not perform well at the box office only grossing a meagre $3.3 million globally, and amount that does not even break-even with the budget it received.

Although, in 2014 it was reported that Jolie earned $15 million for her role in Maleficent, a Disney fantasy movie starring Jolie as the character, Maleficent.

Summary for the Top Paid Actresses for 2015

Looking at the list for the top earning actresses of 2015 the amount of money that is being paid to our actresses of today in Hollywood is clearly enough, given that they are at the top end of the business making tens of millions and per movie this adds up to a lot.

The few surprises to see on this list would include Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Aniston and Julia Roberts, as they have all appeared on numerous top paid lists' in previous years.

The most worthy for their substantial pay in 2015 would be Jennifer Lawrence as she has been working extremely hard over the past few years moving her name through countless releases, all of which have received Oscar worthy performances from the star, and she has even won an Oscar for her part in the 2012 drama, Silver Linings Playbook.

Although, all actresses on this list are worthy of the money that they have earned in 2015, given that they are all hard workers in a competitive industry which does not want to be signing the pay checks that made these actresses as much money as they have made in 2015. Making them extremely lucky to be in the place that they are now in their Hollywood acting careers.

      Hey Chatty Chat,

Thanks for the comment. I have to admit, before collating the list for this hub I also had no idea that Angelina Jolie had a movie out in 2015, and given the insane unpopularity of the movie there is little surprise. But, still, she raked in a handsome income for the year so I'd imagine that she isn't complaining.

It's no surprise that Jennifer Lawrence earned the most because of the Hunger Games franchise. Also, I had no idea that Angelina Jolie had a movie out in 2015.
