I'd love to hear your reaction in the comments.

Sandhya with Surya

Debuting in 2011, this soap opera is the most successful serial on the Star Plus channel. This story tells of Sandhya's struggle to overcome barriers and become an officer in the India State Police. Sandhya is married Surya, a self-made man who owns a sweet shop. In the course of her journey, she has to face a number of problems with her mother-in-law, who doesn't want her to become a police officer. Finally, her husband helps her to fulfill her dream. This serial now shows her work as an officer in Pushkar.

#4 Madhubala-Ek Ishq Ek Junoon

This series ran from May 2012 to August 2014 on Colors TV and starred Drashti Dhama as the "Madhubala" of the title, and Vivian Dsena as Rishab Kundra aka "Superstar RK," a leading Bollywood actor and producer.

The plot of the show is somewhat complicated. It's about Madhubala, a girl born on a film set who works as a beautician. While working, she falls in love with Rishab Kundra,a famous Bollywood actor. Once they get together, the series takes a big time jump, to focus on their daughter, also named Madhubala. She falls in love with Abhay Kapoor, a former rival of her father and twenty years her senior. All in all, Madhubala – Ek Ishq Ek Junoon is one of the best Indian TV serials ever made.

#3 Qubool Hai

Qubool Hai or Qubool Hein is an Indian TV serial that airs on Zee TV in India and GEO TV in Pakistan. It is one of the most famous and popular serials to ever air on Indian television.

The story centers on three characters: Asad, Ayan, and Zoya. Zoya is an American Muslim who comes to India and stays there to find her father. Asad is a quite traditional man who dislikes Zoya at first, but eventually falls in love with her. Their marriage is thwarted by Asad's childhood friend Tanveer, who wants to marry Asad for his money. Ayan is Asad's brother, who also has feelings for Zoya. The drama and surprises make this one of the best Indian TV serials.

#2 Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah

This serial is the best comedy on Indian television and the second-most popular show currently on air. It went on air in July 2008 on SAB TV and is based on the column Duniya Ne Oondha Chashmah written by journalist Taarak Mehta for the weekly magazine, Chitralekha.

The show is set in the Gokuldham Co-Operative Housing Society in Mumbai, which is well known for its diversity, and focuses on the daily lives of its characters, all of which come from different backgrounds and cultures. Each character is singularly drawn and comically portrayed.

#1 Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?
