Top 5 Buffy Episodes
Best moments of Buffy
Buffy isn't just some horror movie with a cult fandom. It's actually more a lighthearted, romantic comedy aimed at geeks and nerds - people who might like science fiction. However we have seen characters like Buffy's Spike go to horror conventions. I have about a half dozen favorite moments from all the seasons I've had a chance to watch.
#5 -S1E21 - Becoming, Part 1 - Spike
Oh look, a big rock. Can't wait to tell my friends. They don't have a rock this big.
Spike saying this right when a giant stone tomb, housing a giant demon, is delivered to Spike's mansion is hilarious. James Master's delivery was great. This is easily my favorite moment of Buffy. This is included in the top buffy episodes list because it's also part of the story where the demon gets blown up by a rocket launcher in the next episode. Classic.
#4 - S5E12 - Checkpoint - Willow and Tara
We're friends. We're best friends. We're girlfriends. We're in love!
The watchers council are interrogating Buffy's friends. When Willow and Tara are asked "tell me about your relationship," this is Willow's answer. The watcher actually meant with Buffy, not between the two of them. This was a great scene, and the whole episode shows Buffy getting stronger.
#3 - S5E7 - Fool for Love
In this Buffy episode, Spike describes the slayers he killed. It's one of the most epic looks into Spike's life.
#2 - S5E1 - Buffy vs. Dracula
Meeting Dracula was awesome, though I was underwhelmed with the ending. It was still a great episode, and I wish Dracula was just a little bit more of a threat.
#1 - S5E19 - Tough Love
Willow is going to kill a demonic god with all the evil and dark power Willow can muster. Or, at least she tries really hard, after this evil god nearly kills her girlfriend. You get to see that Willow is pretty dang impressive when she is pissed off. A lot of episodes in Season 5 seem to connect you with the characters in ways you never have before, showing off their latent talents and how important each is to the team.
I just wanted to include one awesome Buffy quote here. This is actually a Xander quote, which is one of my favorites. The episode was pretty cool (girlfriend robots!!), and we see Xander's patience and "Heart" self.
Tara: "Do you have any books on robots?"
Giles: "Oh, yes. Dozens. There's an enormous amount of research we should do before-- No, I'm lying. I haven't got squat. I just like to see Xander squirm."
Xander: "Funny. Charming and funny."
