Top 5 James Bond (007) Cars

Updated on May 6, 2014

Boys And There Toys

James Bond! The fictional UK MI5 agent is a legacy that has spanned generations. The 1st film was brought to the big screen back in 1962 but did you know the series was brought to life in 1953 by the now world famous writer, Ian Fleming!

Since then, the series is now the longest running film series and the 2nd highest grossing film series ever.

Everyone has their own favourite bond film, bond character, baddie, girl and car. I am a huge James Bond fan and always loved the cars, even when I was a little boy so the latter is what we are going to cover in this hub. The best James Bond Cars of all time.

23 official James Bond movies have been released over the years so we will limit this to the top 5 cars.

5. Lotus Espirit Turbo from the film ‘For Your Eyes Only'

In at number 5 is the Lotus Espirit Turbo from the film ‘For Your Eyes Only, 1981’ this was introduced to the big screen in 1981 featuring Rodger Moor as 007. Although the best driving scene is the movie is captured when bond uses an old rickety Citroen 2CV to escape the wrath of Russian baddies, the Lotus Espirit Turbo bond car proves to be a sleek bondmobile.

4. Aston Martin DBS from the film Casino Royal

A beast of car, the Aston Martin DBS form the film Casino Royal. This film was released in 2006 and is the first of many great Bond movies by Daniel Craig. This car ddidn't have the gadgets most Bond cars have however, the sheer power and beauty of this DBS merits its place in this top 5 list. Keeping in mind, this was a more realistic Bond movie if there ever was such a thing!

3. Aston Martin V8 Vantage from the movie ‘The Living Daylights’

The Aston Martin V8 Vantage from the 007 movie ‘The Living Daylights’ is gadget fantastic. The movie itself featured Timothy Dalton as James Bond and was screened in 1987. The film was good, the car was better. This beauty was like the UKs better version of an American muscle car.

Q went to town with this car, packing it with gadgets such as land missiles, retractable skis, and steel cutting lasers just to mention a few of the bold additions by the legendary Q. The sheer beauty and incredible gadgets are the key ranking factors in making this 3rd best Bond car of all time.

2. Lotus Espirit from The Spy Who Loved Me

I absolutely adore the Lotus Espirit from The Spy Who Loved Me. Out in 1977 and featuring Roger Moore. This car is sleek on the road but when it turns into a submarine it is absolutely brilliant! Q outdid himself in this one. Not only can this car drive / swim whatever, it is also equipped with surface to air missiles, cement sprayer, black dye slick, mines, and torpedoes and by does it see a lot of action. Two words describe the only reason this car is not number 1, Ejector Seat!

1. Aston Martin DB5 from Goldfinger

Yup, you probably guessed it correct! The best bond mobile of all time has to be the Aston Martin DB5 from one of 007’s best ever movies, Goldfinger! Brought to the big screen in 1964 and features Sean Connery (best ever James Bond actor!). The DB5 in this movie is best known for its ejector seat. An incredible feature that has fascinated both adults and children to this day.

Other gadgets featured in James Bond’s best ever car include revolving number plates, GPS dashboard (pretty cool for 1967), arm rest controls, tire slashers, smoke screen, oil slick, rear bullet proof screen, front bumper machine guns and of course, the famous ejector seat.

All bond fans will remember the happy child hood memories of playing with the replica Aston Martin DB5 from Goldfinger. In my opinion this is the main reason why this car beats the Lotus Espirit submarine. Both great cars in their own rite but nostalgia always wins over.

As a petrolhead I was immediately drawn to this hub... Have been a long standing Bond fan and have watched all Bond movies out of the MGM/Brocolli franchise... my favorite Bond car would probably have to be the Aston Martin Vanquish from Die Another Day (or as Q called it the 'Vanish')..
