Top 5 Best Japanese Pop (jpop) Singers

Updated on June 18, 2016

Japanese pop music or Jpop, outside of Asia is not commonly liked but there are some who do. For those people who do and looking for more maybe there are some songs here you have never heard before.

If you like any of these artists in particular and would like more song links please leave me a request and I will add more.

This is my list of 5 popular Jpop singers in no order of preference. Do you agree or disagree? who are your favourite Japanese singers? I am posting videos for a few of my favourite songs from each singer.

Perfume is considered to be a J-technopop group. comprised of Kashiyuka, Nocchi and A~Chan

Ayumi Hamasaki

Ayumi Hamasaki is probably the most famous jpop singer and boasts a very powerful voice, I noticed she sang the ending theme song for the movie Shinobi: Heart Under Blade. Was a good movie too!

Nami Tamaki

Nami Tamaki debuted her jpop career in 2003 with Realize, which was the opening song for the anime Gundam SEED.

I must admit I'm not a fan of her newer songs though. If you follow her and know what I'm talking about, what do you think?

Utada Hikaru

Utada Hikaru

Her 1999 debut First Love is the country's biggest-selling album of all time, and three of her albums rank among the Top Ten best-sellers. She has tried to break into the American market by bringing out some English songs. They didn't impress me at all. But if your interested Youtube 'Easy Breezy'

Some of her jpop songs include.

Simple and Clean.

First Love.

YUI songs, mostly acoustic guitar. She has a very unique voice, I don't speak Japanese or understand so a lot of singers can sometimes sound similar to me. There are still Yui songs I have yet to hear and when I do come across a youtube video that is not titled as Yui it is easy to pick her voice straight away in a song even if you have never heard it before and cant read the title.

Some of her songs include:

Goodbye Days.

Love and Truth.

Rolling Star

Ayumi Hamasaki ~ Decision really shows how powerful her voice is. A song like Decision really commends respect whether you understand the lyrics or not. That song is most likely my favorite of hers.

Good hub, thanks for sharing some different Japanese artists. Hikaru and Hamasaki are my fav's ^_^
