Top 50 Richest Directors in Hollywood 2014

Updated on July 15, 2014
Iconic Hollywood Directors (4 Favourites)
Iconic Hollywood Directors (4 Favourites) | Source

Directors Do More!

It is also worth mentioning that directors do more in ensuring that films succeed in their quest to box office numbers and awards. This has proven a difficult task for a lot of directors as it seems big budgets do not always bring out the best in directors. As a lot of big budget films have flopped and it seems that the only way to understand if a director has potential is in the small budget films (giving them the opportunity to shine).

2014's- 5 Most Bankable Directors

#1- Steven Spielberg

#2- Michael Bay

#3- Peter Jackson

#4- Tim Burton

#5- Christopher Nolan

'Spielberg' is a Hollywood sensation having directed some of the best films in history including E.T. The Extra Terrestrial, Jurassic Park and Lincoln. Even today we see some of our favourite and most memorable films being directed by the one and only 'Steven Spielberg'. There is no beating the number 1 (most bankable Hollywood director) 'Spielberg' who has an impressive filmography and a just as impressive fortune which he has made through an impressive, long lasting career as a director and producer of films.

Directors Fortune's Seem Limitless!

Arguably the most important person in determining a films success is the director as it is through their direction that the film has the opportunity to be a box office success or a box office bomb.

Directors earn more than actors if they maximise their earning potential by taking points (as long as they are bankable) which gives them a share of the films profit. The points are either from the gross profit or the net profit which means that if the director is given 10 gross points from a film and the film grosses $100M then they receive 10% which gives them $10M in their back pocket.

To give you an idea of what directors earn and who is earning the most among this profession in Hollywood, I have created this list of the ''top 50'' (2014).

The list includes the directors net worth, films directed and how they earned their fortune.
