Ty-Lor goes back disappointed in himself, but he knew his ship was going down when Padma ate his food and shook her head in disgust.
Ty-Lor gets a note from Tom saying he got pretty far, maybe there’s more for you. Ty faces Nyesha and then we are reminded of old, but not so good times.
Nyesha didn’t care for two cheftestants in the competition, Heather, who she just kicked off for good, and Ty-Lor. Am I forgetting something? I thought everyone liked Ty. The editors are nice enough to show the footage of Ty telling Nyesha to “shut the f-ck up” and being incredibly rude. For her it’s personal.
I had totally forgotten about that and the fact that he and Heather were bffs. Now I’m not so sad he got the boot.
This challenge is about the cry of the Top Chef, “I am not a pastry chef”. The cheftestants must cook a pastry in 30 minutes with the help of a sous chef.
Since Nyesha is the champion, he gets to pick first. She picks one of her enemies, Heather. Ty is bummed, because not only is he really comfortable with Heather, but she’s also a pastry chef. Nyesha is playing the game, because these are all the things she’s already taken into consideration.
Ty looks stunned and it takes a moment for him to pick Malibu Chris. He’s worked with him before and they’re a good team.
Nyesha makes a coconut and lime tart with coconut crème fraiche mousse and caramel sauce. Tom thinks it’s a good dish, but the mousse could have been more flavorful.
Ty makes a puff pastry with dark chocolate mascarpone cream, vanilla bean rum cherries and caramel sauce. Tom also likes this dish, but felt the mousse could have had more punch.
Whose dessert looked the tastiest?
Tom felt both dishes were restaurant ready, but if he had to choose only one to eat again he would pick…Nyesha. She stays the Reigning Last Chance Kitchen Chef.
Ty is bummed out, but he has enormous respect for Nyesha and feels she’s a really good chef. Maybe he’s a nice guy after all. Or I’m just fickle.
