8 Royals Everyone should Know

Updated on May 9, 2016

When it comes to royalty, all we know are William, Harry, Kate and of course, the Queen. But how many of us really know about the other royals who exist side-by-side with the British monarchy?

There are royal families in Jordan, Spain, U.A.E, Japan, Thailand, Bhutan, Monaco and in many other countries that we are not aware of. Even those royals deserve to be in the limelight, don't they? They've also accomplished much in their own countries, but we still don't give a damn about them. Mainly because we don't know them.

So to correct this situation, I have this post which lists 8 royals which everyone should know.

1. Queen Rania of Jordan:

Queen Rania is an extremely popular figure when it comes to advocacy work related to health, education, community empowerment, youth and other relevant topics. She holds an important position on an international scale and is often invited to attend speeches, seminars etc, all over the world by various organizations.

2. Prince Carl Philip, Duke of Varmland (Sweden):

This Swedish prince is more popular around the world for his rakish looks than his contributions. But no issues, he is barely 36 or 37 and we hope that he will make a greater impact for the greater good. He enjoys car racing and is also a skilled graphic designer.

3. Princess Mako of Akishino (Japan):

I think, most of us, when it comes to the Japanese Royal family are basically clueless. So let’s get that corrected. Princess Mako is eldest granddaughter of the reigning emperor. In the East, she is equivalent to Kate Middleton, when it comes to her sense of fashion. Princess Mako is interested in the deaf community and can communicate using Japanese sign language.

4. Marie-Chantal, Crown Princess of Greece:

Now, I am not entirely sure whether or not she makes the cut considering the fact that Greece is now a republic and deposed their ruling king in 1973. However, she is worth a mention since she is probably the only royal who also has a repute of being an internationally acclaimed designer. She’s got her own childrenswear line called Marie-Chantal.

Have you heard about Princess Marie-Chantel?

5. Bhumibol Adulyadej:

The 88 year old king of Thailand is the world’s longest serving current head of state reigning for nearly 69 years as of 2015. In 2010, his estimated net worth revealed to be a whooping 30 billion US$. He has four children, and his second child is the heir apparent.

6. Lady Amelia Windsor

Lady Amelia Windsor is currently 36th in line to succeed the British throne. Daughter of George Windsor and Sylvana, Amelia shot to stardom on her 18th Birthday when she was dubbed as the ‘most beautiful member of the royal family’ by Tatler. This 20 year old royal is a student at Edinburg University.

7. Jefri Bolkiah, Prince of Brunei:

Prince Jefri is the younger brother of the current Sultan of Brunei. He served as the finance minster of his country from 1986 to 1998. The prince is a controversial person and is accused of a number of issues ranging from misappropriation of funds to sexual assault. He has three wives and his own personal harem.

8. Albert II, Prince of Monaco:

How could we end this without mentioning Grace Kelly’s son? The reigning monarch of the principality of Monaco, Prince Albert, is one of the wealthiest royals in the world. He had increasingly been dodging marriage but ultimately succumbed in 2011 to the beautiful Charlene. He is also probably the only royal to have two children born out of wedlock.
