Jang Geun Suk (Jang Keun-Suk)

(Hangul: 장근석; Hanja: 張根碩)

Born in 1987 in Danyang County, Chungcheongbuk-do, South Korea, he was spotted by a talent agent when he was six years old, and started working as child model since then. Four years later, he acted in sitcom "Selling Happiness" (Haengbokeul Pabmoda). Since then, he continued to work as child actor. He learnt how to speak Japanese Language by himself. Then, when he was in junior high school, he studied in New Zealand. Therefore, he is able to speak both Japanese and English fluently. Often self-criticized his acting, he never ceased to improve his acting skills.

Then to better prepare his role as a deaf boy in “One Missed Call Final”, he learned sign language prior to the movie making. His acting in various drama such as “Hwang Jin-Yi”, “Beethoven Virus”, “He is beautiful”, “Mary stayed out all night” and “Love Rain” has gained attention of many female fans.

Jang Geun Suk in Drama

In the drama, “Beethoven Virus”, Jang Geun Suk played the role of a genius trumpet player. He looked very boyish in this drama, with very short hair. He also appeared very man-ly with muscular thighs in this drama. He was not as thin as in later years. He lost quite some weight in the later drama series, “You’re Beautiful”, and “Mary Stayed Out All Night”, appearing with slimmer look.

I didn’t quite like his look in “You’re Beautiful” where he applied eye-liner around his eyes. It looked rather un-natural.

Jang Geun Suk is also the first Korean artist featured on special postage stamps in Japan. This personal set of stamps is released in conjunction with his 20th debut anniversary. The stamps will feature his life as a child actor, teenage year, young adult actor and present life.

Why is Jang Geun Suk so popular ?

Born with that killer smile that warms your heart, there is not another Korean actor that can achieve the same as Jang Geun Suk. In the drama, “Mary Stayed Out All Night”, for instance, he appeared so sweet and lovable, instantly stole the hearts of his female fans. In fact, his passionate kiss scene in this drama was the best of all Korean dramas, and voted so by many fans. (Most Korean drama kiss scenes are just “touching each others’ lips” and lack of passion.) Watch this :

I am an avid fan of the Asia's Prince JKS since the first time I saw him in the drama You're Beautiful. He is good in acting whether it is a rom-com, action, drama etc. And he is also good in singing. He can speak English and Japanese fluently. He's perfect. Well, I just hope that one day PSH and JKS will work again in one drama.

I love Jang Geun Suk in “Hong Gil Dong” the best. Although he did not play the lead there, however, he was more eye-catching than the leading man. (I have four hubs devoted to the drama, and I think he displayed his best acting ability in that series.)

On my list, the best kissing scene comes from a 2011 drama called “Me Too, Flower” (the most underrated drama in my opinion) starring Baking King, Kim Takgu’s Yoon Shi Yoon. You get two full minutes of passionate kiss (featured on my hub “Me too flower”). Many YouTube viewers fall in love with the drama because of this kissing scene, and I totally agree.

I really enjoy your hub! Thanks!
