Top ten nollywood stars we can't get enough of

Updated on May 18, 2017

Nollywood is an evolving industry, you have to agree with me that she has come a long way in all aspects. Nollywood is unarguably one of, if not the most progressive film industry in the whole of Africa. There are so many individuals who have made it their aim to make sure the industry do not go down the drain. We know them, we love them, and these few are some of the spectacular ones that refuse to get old on screen.

Number 10 Ramsey Nouah

Ramsey Tokunbo Nouah was born on the 19th of december 1970 (46 years) in Edo state Nigeria. He is biracial, his father is Israeli and his mother, a Nigerian from yoruba Ondo state. He grew up in Lagos Nigeria, and is a graduate of mass communication friom the University of Lagos. He is married to Emelia Phillips-Nouah, and they have three children

Ramsey Nouah

Whether it is because of his pretty face, the romance he adds to a movie, his style, or whatever, Ramsey Tokunbo Nouah can never become that guy we used to know.

Though known for mostly romantic dramas, Ramsey can also be feisty when he chooses to be. His role in the movie ‘Figurine’ came as a surprise to me, but that is what he does, he surprises you. Ramsey is definitely our guy, onr we can never get enough of.

Number 9 Funke Akindele

Olufunke Ayotunde Akindele, was born on the 24th of August 1976 (40 years} in Ikorodu, Lagos state where she grew up. She has a National duiploma in mass comunication from Mashood Abiola Polytechnic and a law degree from the University of Lagos. She is married to Nigerian rapper Rasheed Bello.

Funke Akindele

This is one extra ordinary woman that we will always hold close to our hearts. She is the one you want to watch when you are bored depressed, and even out of place. A lawyer by profession and a pace setter by destiny,

So many people know her as ‘Jenifa with the bad English’ but you have to agree with me that we enjoyed that movie, little wonder we still crave for more of the series adaptation. Funke brings everyday life to the screen and we love her for that. We'll definitely never get enough of her.

Number 8 Dakore Egbuson Akande

Dakore Omobola Egbuson Akande was born on the 14th of october 1978 (38 years) in Bayealsa state, Nigeria, She grew up and attended schools in both Lagos and Bauchi state. She is married to Olumide Akande and they have two children

Dakore Egbuson Akande

My hands and feet are so up to answer the question “who wants to see her in a new movie. She is so unpredictable, swift, and original.

So many love her for her dreads, others love that calmness about her personality, but I just love the “Africaness” in her. Love her, hate her, be on the fence, the fact remains we just can't get enough of her.

Number 7 Kalu Ikeagwu

Kalu Egbui Ikeagwu was born on the 18th of may in England. He has lived in England, and in Zambia before relocating to Nigeria at the age of 9 to be acquainted with his roots. He is British-Nigerian. He has a degree in English from the University of Nigeria Nsukka. He is married to Ijeoma Eze.

Kalu Ikeagwu

Kalu Ikeagwu happens to you. He is like a natural occurrence you can’t escape. He is what I like to call “a Nigerian man” he brings his wholeness to a movie and you can’t help it you just have to scream “that’s how you do it!”

He is one of the stars that have made it their aim to modify Nollywood and make it what we want it to be. I personally love his role in “Two brides and a baby” he was wonderful. he was also great in "damage". We just can't get enough of him.

Number 7 Omotola Jalade Ekeinde

Omotol Jalade Ekeinde was born on the 7th of februery 1978 (39 years) in Lagos state where she grew up. She studied estate management at Yaba college of technology in Lagos state. she is married to Pilot Captain Matthew Ekeinde and they have four children.

Omotola Jalade Ekeinde

Also known as “omo sexy”, this stunning beauty has proven, and will continue to prove her worth, which is undeniably appreciating. So many love her for her stunning beauty, others love her for her roles, and others love her for just being omotola

Omotola is undeniably an actress that fits into all roles; a mother, trader, banker, pauper, witch, superstar, just name them. She does a great job, and we want to see more of her, we can't get enough of her

Number 5 Pete Edochie

Pete Edochie hails from Anambra state, he was born on the 7th of march 1947 (70 years) in Enugu state, he was an adsministrator and broadcaster before joining the movie industry. he lived and had his primary and secondary school in zaria, Kaduna state. He studied Journalism and Television in the school of Journalism and television in England. He is married to Josephine Edochie and they have six children.

Pete Edochie

Did I hear a yay? Because this man deserves it, he is unarguably one of the founding fathers of “our Nollywood”. Always known to be the wicked uncle, evil king, or ritualist, and rarely seen playing “the poor man”. However, whatever role he played, you just had to love him. There is something eccentric about his aura, that is somewhat endearing.

He is what anyone who knows anything about movies will call a good actor. His vitality, dance steps, his unique voice, and his vague laughter are all just breath taking. I would love love love to see him in a new movie. A traditional man, as I like to call him, Pete is extra ordinary, that is why we love him and that is why we would never get enough of him.

Number 4 Rita dominic

Rita Uchenna Nkem Dominic Waturuocha hails from the Waturuocha royal family in Imo state. She was born on the 12th of july 1975 (41 years). She attended secondary school in Akwa Ibom state, and has a degree in theatre arts from the University of Port Harcourt.

Rita dominic

Yeah, it is time for the queen. Rita has been with us through all the stages of Nollywood. From its stone age, to its present state of glory. The lover girl and her signature hairstyle from back in the days will never be forgotten.

This spectacular woman with her unearthly beauty has a fine ability to invent and re-invent herself. Her role in “the meeting” is a typical example of her wonderful talent. We have seen much, but not enough of her.

Number 3 Olu Jacobs

Oludotun Jacobs hails from Abeokuta, Ogun state. He was born on the 11th of july 1942 (74 years). he trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London. he is married to actress Joke Silva and they have five children.

Olu Jacobs

Talk of a legend! Olu Jacobs is that man that scares you, but with a pleasurable undertone. I am not afraid to say that Olu Jacobs is one of the pillars of Nollywood.

He seems larger than life, and sometimes, even bigger than the screen! He is someone that we will never forget and whom we will never get enough of.

Number 2 Stephanie Okereke Linus

Stephanie Onyekachi Okereke Linus is from Ngor Okpala in Imo state. She was born on the 2nd of october 1982 (34 years) in her local town (Ngor Okpala). She has a degree in English and Literary studies from the University of Calabar, she also studied at New York Film Academy. She is married to Linus Idahosa and they have a child.

Stephanie Okereke Linus

I have to say, she is a goddess! A fearless, reserved, unique woman with a magnificent beauty. Stephanie has continued to surprise us, just when you think she is out of the picture, she invades that thought with a wonderful plate full. Who are we to say no when this plate is served? We take it with all boldness and we are never disappointed that we did.

You cannot argue with the fact that we cannot get enough of her and a little fairy tells me that we have not seen the best of Stephanie.

Number 1 Genevieve Nnaji

Genevieve Nnaji is from Mbaise in Imo state. she was born on the 3rd of may 1979 (38 years) in Mbaise. She grew up in Lagos state. She has a bachelor's degree in creative arts from the University of Lagos. She has a daughter.

Genevieve Nnaji

Let us now give a standing ovation and 2 minutes silence for her awesomeness Genevieve Nnaji. This is our Genny, the one that leaves you asking for more, the one whose beauty strikes you as unworldly, the one whose acting is borne from within, the ever young priestess, the pride of Nollywood, and need I say more?

Genevieve is a legend, she knows what she wants and does not hesitate to get it. So many who started with her, have either lost track, become mediocre, or just invisible, Genny on the other hand, is invincible and we cannot get enough of her. She was honoured as a member of the Order of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, not forgetting to mention that she is the first nollywood star to be mentioned in oprah Winfrey's show, who refered to her as the "Julia Roberts" of Africa and as one of the most influencial people in the world. She is definitely who I want to be when I grow up!
