Tribute to Country Music
Country sounds so pure and clean,
from hearts of the people to share,
A rhythm and melody of down home played,
heard on the wind, and so rare.
As a Guitar, mandolin, and banjo joins,
in happy strings and mellow sounds,
A harmonica backs them in their refrain,
while joys of the tune abounds.
A voice reflected in the country ways,
and so shared by a people of the plow,
A rich earth and a hard working of character,
yields all a good life does allow.
Sung on the wings of a lonesome dove,
while a red hawk sings its notes by day's light,
A crow calls across the open fields,
as an owl hoots approvingly, in the night.
Country home, with its country ways,
of a people of good health and natures, strong,
The life of a country man and his family,
no finer place and none happier, to belong.
Songs from the earth and on a gentle breeze,
form a fine symphony, all flows, to blend,
Messages from the hearts and souls to impart,
as beloved lyrics, these all to send.
They echo in the darkness, these fine tunes to fly,
and too, played, by a moon over head,
Voices tell of hardships and struggles, seen by all,
as on the cooling currents, each to spread.
Down through the hollows, all across the countryside,
stories told of times to be had,
The good ones and down times of a country folk,
songs of happiness, and some, so sad.
The treasures of the people, none so special,
expressed in their own country ways,
Sung and played in down to earth chords,
and a chorus of the simple life, it displays.
It tells of what life has to offer when you try,
and what we all get, when we're true,
A natural story, of all the glory, set in a music,
clean and fine, as the morning mountain dew.
