Tribute to 'King of Ghazal' - Mehdi Hassan Khan
Mehidi Hasan Khan, was a Pakistani Singer, popularly known as "Shahenshah - e - Ghazal", means 'King of Ghazal', a classical music genre of Sub - continental music. He was one of the greatest ever in ghazal singing. In fact he was the one who made ghazal singing, introduced to the world, in a way, done never before by any one. He was one and only of his kind as far as 'Ghazal' singing is concerned.

Born to Classic Music Family, Mehdi Hasan spent all of his childhood in learning and training music. He learnt the art to perfection and reached at the top of Ghazal genre, and reached to a spot, where no one else has ever reached. He influenced generations, in Music from Jagjit Singh (Lehendary Ghazal Singer, India) to now a days a very popular play back singer of bollywood, Mr. Sonu Nigam.

Early Life and Early days Struggle
Mehdi Hasan Born to a classical music family in 1927 in Luna Village, of Rajisthan British India. His family was a classic music family from 1200 years. His father 'Ustad' Azeem Khan was a classical singer and musician as well. Mehdi Hasan was initially trained by his father Ustad Azeem Khan and Ustad Ismail Khan.

Mehdi Hasan started performing at a very young age with his elder brother 'Pandit' Ghulam Qadir in his area, at Royal functions in Rajisthan, British India.Later in 1947, Sub-continent got indepence from British rule and became India and Pakistan. Mehdi Hasan and family migrated to Pakistan and setteld in Chicha Watni, Punjab Pakistan.
Initially after migration, to support his family, Mehdi Hasan worked at a bicycle shop. Later on worked as an Engine mechanic as well. His passion for music never faded and he kept on singing and training every day. He got a first major break in 1957 on Radio Pakistan.

After his first break in 1952, on Radio Pakistan, he was also offered to sing as a play back singer in films as well as he was encouraged by Radi Producer of that time, to focus on 'Ghazal' singing. Mehdi was so prepared and well rehersed singer that he rose to the prominance almost immediately and established himself as a Best ghazal singer and Best play back singer as well.

An Illustrious Career of over Five Decades
Mehdai Hasan Khan enjoys an unprecedented and illustrious career of over Five (05) decades. He was one of the very best in 'Ghazal' singing. He was also one of his own kind play back singer as well.
In his career he sung many 'Ghazals' and play back songs, which are still as fresh as ever. He had a unique and captivating voice. He mesmerized the audience with his strongest 'Raags' and best vocals for almost seven decades.

King of Ghazal, after an unmatched career of over fifty years, left this world for his eternal abode on 13th of June, 2012. He was paid heavy tribute by celebrities from all across the globe. He was laid to rest in Karachi, Pakistan.
