Both Yuu Tejima & Hitomi Yoshizawa Created Controversy But for Entirely Different Reasons

There comes a time when celebrities should have tribute articles written about them. In this article, we pay tribute to two celebrities that have been involved in controversies but for entirely different reasons. These celebrities are Yu or Yuu Tejima, a Japanese fashion model and the very famous Hitomi Yoshizawa. Yuu Tejima created controversy about her age and as for Hitomi Yoshizawa, that is a different matter as she did something far worse. So here we go with Yuu Tejima and Hitomi Yoshizawa.

Yu or Yuu Tejima is a Japanese actress and gravure idol. Here are some of her biographical stats:

  • Date of birth: August 27, 1984 (Her listed date of birth)

  • Her name in Japanese is spelled like this: 手島優 (てじま ゆう)
  • Height: 165 centimeters

A Few More Interesting Facts About Yuu Tejima That Some May Not Have Known About

She is from the Tochigi Prefecture. (Note: can you guess what other famous celebrity is from this part of Japan?) If you answered Yuko Oshima, you are correct!

Being born in 1984, she joins several Japanese celebrities to have been born that year. A few notable gravure idols that were born in 1984 include Karina Nose (February 21) and Yoko Mitsuya (November 8).

Yuu Tejima's Acting Work and Hobbies

Her movie debut came in 2007 when she starred in Twilight Phantom. The following year, she starred in Dark Love: Rape. In 2009, she starred in Oneechanbara: The Movie-Vortex. In addition to her movies, Tejima has also acted in a few TV dramas. She starred in the 3rd episode of Saru Lock. In 2010, Tejima starred in the 5th episode of Detective Lovesick. Also in that same year, she starred in Unubore Deka. In 2011, Tejima starred in the TV drama called Misaki Number One!! In 2011, she also starred in Call Me the Shadow: Adventures of a Housewife Detective. In 2012, she starred in the TV show Somato Kabushiki Gaisha. When she isn’t involved in modeling or acting, Yuu Tejima enjoys cooking, swimming, horse racing, and nice massages. She is known for her lips.

Yuu Tejima and Her Age Controversy

She became involved in some interesting controversy. It was reported that although she had been saying that her age is 27 and this was actually at the time I first read about her back in 2011. She is actually 31 and would be 32 years old at the time I first wrote about her back in April 2016. (Time goes by fast doesn’t it?) So she had been lying about her age. Tejima made the announcement on a TV program called Sunday Japon. The reason for her lying about her age is that she was told by her agency that if she wanted to be popular as a gravure idol that she should say that she is a teenager. She was 21 at that time so she was asked to reduce her age by 2 years. So her reported age at the time was 19. Tejima apologized about this misinformation and she will work hard.

What Are the Reasons for This Tribute to Hitomi Yoshizawa

This tribute for Yoshizawa is not to condemn her for what she has done but it is to show the world who she is as she prepares for life outside of the entertainment business. And this tribute is necessary given what the level of her fame is in Japan.

The Event That Caused Yoshizawa to Announce Her Retirement From the Entertainment Industry

As for Hitomi Yoshizawa, she announced that she is retiring from the world of show business. Yoshizawa's claim to fame is because she is a former member of girl group Morning Musume. She began her career in show business back in 2000. Yoshizawa on September 6, 2018 was driving in her vehicle and she was on the way to a promotional event at McDonald s when she injured two people in what was described as a hit and run incident. I wrote earlier how this incident might mean that Hitomi Yoshizawa's career may never be the same again and this thought has come to reality as she is retiring from the entertainment business. It is also being reported that the Tokyo District Public Prosecutor’s Office has indicted Yoshizawa for the incident that has not only changed her life in a far different way but it has ruined her reputation as a Japanese idol as well. Even though Yoshizawa has now publicly apologized for the incident that caused so much trouble, it may still not allow her to have the same relationship with her fans and former members of the girl group Morning Musume. She was released on the amount of 3 million yen. Yoshizawa’s agency J.P. Room has sent out a fax to media across Japan informing them that in fact, the retirement of Yoshizawa is official. Yoshizawa made comments about the recent events of her life saying that she is now aware of her weakness and immaturity. She also said that she will forever atone for the crime that she has committed and what she did is unforgivable. She hopes to move forward as a mother and a now private citizen.

The Objective for the Rest of This Tribute to Yoshizawa

Note: I started really researching about the life of Hitomi Yoshizawa as far back as 2011. What follows is sort of the second part of our tribute to Hitomi Yoshizawa of Morning Musume but with one major difference. That difference is that in this section, we will discuss the aspect of her life that has to do with her years spent in Morning Musume. However, we will not address every single aspect of her career but what we will do is to try and make this next section as interesting as possible.

Interesting Facts About Hitomi Yoshizawa

  • Her favorite foods are udon, soba and tomatoes.
  • Her favorite season she says is autumn because it is not too hot and it is also not too cold.
  • Her favorite place in Japan is the city of Saitama.
  • She stands at 163 centimeters tall.
  • Her hobbies are sending e-mails and shopping.
  • She says that if she was not involved with Morning Musume that she would be a professional volleyball player.
  • She says that her family is so important that she can talk to them about anything and that she is able to be relaxed around them. She has to be blessed because not everyone gets along well with their family members.
  • Someone must have asked her what she thinks of the future of Japan. Hitomi stated that the sea will be clean. Hitomi also said that cities will be prettier, traffic will be smoother, and UV radiation will not be a problem.

A Brief Synopsis of Hitomi Yoshizawa's Career In Morning Musume

Yoshizawa made her debut back in the year 2000. Her debut single performance was in the single called Happy Summer Wedding. She would become the leader of Morning Musume when there was the unexpected resignation of Mari Yaguchi. It would be on May 6, 2007 that she would graduate from Morning Musume following the conclusion of the Sexy 8 Beat Spring Tour. Sexy 8 Beat is the name of one of the group’s studio albums. At the time of her graduation, Hitomi Yoshizawa was considered by some fans to be “the last trace of the Golden Era” of Morning Musume. I would surmise that she was referred to in this way because she was the last of the members that made her debut in the early years of the group’s history.
