Vampires Suck

After the decent debut of 'Twilight' in 2008, what followed was mediocrity at its very best as the much anticipated saga reached its depressing peak with 'New Moon'. More mediocrity was to follow with the Razzie-worthy and uninspired final chapter.

Apart from the dull and depressing background, Kristen Stewart's sullen and moody exterior - briefly disrupted by her turning into a vampire - made the saga even less interesting. The vampire-human-werewolf love triangle did little to attract non-readers of the saga. At least 'The Vampire Diaries' has a vibrant and colorful cast of do-gooders and psychos in equal measure. 'Vampire Sucks' parody definitely had more life, coupled with the humour. I suppose with the exhaustion of the vampire-oriented theme, writers have had to be more creative in order for their work to stand out; but what's with the pulling off of heads - it certainly seemed as if one was watching the horror version of 'Barbie The Vampire Doll'.

Amid all the many negatives, one positive certainly stood out. This saga had some of the best music in its soundtrack albums: 5 albums in total. The choice of music provides a very contradictory view to this infamous franchise; while the films range from sucky to barely watchable, the music definitely rocks!

Are Critics Of Any Value

In retrospect, Paramore's rejection of a continued association with the franchise was clearly well advised. Or not! The Twilight Saga may have failed to meet the high standards of critics; but unlike disasters like The Lone Ranger, fans of the franchise weren't deterred. Nowadays, it seems, critics have very little pull when it comes to influencing the public. Certainly, fans have realized that critics are just wannabes who lacked the talent to actually take an active role in moviemaking.

At Least We Have The Music...

What passion the movies lack is provided for in the 5 albums that make up the soundtrack. The Twilight Saga soundtrack encompasses different musical genres including; Rock, Pop and R&B. Includes the contribution of great bands like Paramore, Metric and The Bravery, and fantastic solo artists such as Christina Perri and Bruno Mars. The following is a list of all the albums in the film saga:

I like the hub. I've got to confess I'm probably one of the oldest people to watch Twilight. I actually read all the books. (The writing wasn't the greatest in those books either). I always loved vampire movies, however you're right, each installment was worse than the previous one. I, myself, thought Eclipse was the cheesiest of the all the movies, ironically enough, it was my favorite soundtrack. One of my favorite bands, the Black Keys, had a song on it.
