Tys (Thijs) Van Leer

Updated on June 19, 2010

Following my own advice, ( see link to Hubpage) I attempted to declutter some drawers in a spare bedroom this weekend.

I came across a stack of audio cassettes and of course, decided to listen to them before donating them to charity.

Much to my delight, I rediscovered a tape circa early 1970s called "Nice To Have Met You" by Tys Van Leer.

Tys, a Dutch musician, singer, and composer is best known for being a member of the group "Focus". His captivating and phenomenal talent as an accomplished flautist will keep you spellbound and longing for more! Tys has been called a "melodic genius" .

The Youtube video below is a song called "Hocus Pocus" Tys was in the group "Focus."

His extraordinary talents as a classical artist are well demonstrated in his later projects entitled "Introspection" and "Introspection 2 & 3."

Although his "Nice To Have Met You" album is not available on CD, there are some vinyl copies being offered for sale that you can track down. His latest project (2009) is available at this website

What a character. He plays a mean flute and really knows how to whistle--must have watched Lauren Bacall. =:)

Thank for stopping by and commenting, suny51. The "man walking with the cane", well actually that is Mr. Van Leer holding his flute. You MUST go back and rewatch the video because no man ever played a cane the way he does! LOL !!
