US Military Perform Britney Spears "Hold it Against Me"

Updated on September 30, 2012

Funny away from home.

It is always amazing to me how some videos tend to get so popular so quick. Especially when a celebrity endorses them on their Twitter or Facebook pages. Before this actually became an article on I saw it as the actual original status update on Britney Spears' Facebook page. (Yes, I follow her Tweets, too!...would you hold it against me?)

Now, considering where this was made I would say the solider/military members did a really good job. It is a lot better quality then most YouTube videos, but what is special about this one is that it shows that our military members are having a good time despite the stressful situation they are in. Sometimes life gives us something hard to accomplish and we have to just go with it. Most people become bitter and stressed...I'm sure some of these soldiers have at one time, but they trying their best to keep it light and have a little bit of fun.

One of the comments I saw made by someone was something like this: "Now, I don't mind paying my tax dollars for this! I'm glad to see you are having fun. Be safe and return home safely!" I think that is just so sweet.

Sometimes I do wonder if it actually is Britney Spears that Tweets and Facebooks her own stuff though. The actual post she did was good, but I'm not entirely convinced it was her. Here it is:

"I am in LOVE with this," Britney Tweeted last night with a YouTube link. "I always knew our soldiers were fierce! Thanks for everything you guys do."

It could have been a good publicity stunt, but I don't really want to think of it as a way of promoting Britney's new CD Femme Fatale, but you can tell it already has. The video itself was posted on Britney's Facebook and Twitter around April 21, 2011 and then published the article The Few, The Proud, The Britney Spears Fans in the Marines on April 22, 2011. By 10:00am this morning (4/23/11) the video has over 1,000,000 hits. Wow!!!

All in all I have to say I am inpressed with the level of creativity and power of the message that they are sending. I think more people need to consider that soliders are just young people and they are not in combat all the time. I know many that just do basic jobs or sit around a lot. It's not the big high life everyone thinks it is and a lot of loneliness and depression can set it for these people. I hope that my blog can serve as a witness of the power of music and the human heart.

Bless all the troops in every country and let us try to make peace with our brothers and sisters.

Thank you so much RebekahELLE. I really can not wait until this war is over. I hope it ends soon. Maybe with the power of music...

Love it! I'm a huge supporter of our troops, a Brit fan and I love the song. It's nice to see the young men and women lightening up a bit in such a crazy, mad world. Thanks for sharing this here at HP! I tweeted and 'liked' it. It's a fun way to support out troops. :)
