Know the lyrics by heart
I - Just the other night at a hometown football game
My wife and I ran into my old high school flame
And as I introduced them the past came back to me
And I couldn’t know but think of
The way things used to be
II - She was the one that I’d wanted for all times
And each night I’ve spend praying that God would make her mine
And if He’d only grant me this wish I wished back then
I’d never ask for anything again
Sometimes I thank God for an unanswered prayers
Remember when you're talkin'to the man upstairs
(It's just/That just) because He doesn’t answer doesn’t mean He don’t care
Some of God’s greatest gifts are unanswered prayers.
III - She wasn’t quite the angel that I remembered in my dreams
And I could tell the time she changed me and her eyes too it seem
We tried to talk about the old days, there wasn’t much we could recall
I guess the Lord knows what He’s doin’ after all.
IV - And as she walk away, well I looked at my wife
And then and there I thanked the Good Lord
For the gifts in my life
'Cause some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered
Some of God’s greatest gifts, are all too often unanswered
Some of God’s greatest gifts are unanswered prayers
This country song is popularized by the US # 1 country artist Garth Brooks and it hit my heart.
Whenever our ship loads or discharges cargo in the US port, I always go the music store in order to check albums by Mr. Brooks. I like almost all his songs and the group of songwriters who made him so popular and this song that became his unofficial signature song whenever he tours the states of his country and the world.
In this world of too much materialism, we always want our prayers to be answered. We didn't know that those prayers that were not answered through tangible things are the ones answered by God in silence. We often ignore His call but deep in our hearts, those prayers are already answered .
We are not satisfied of what we have. We continue searching for the best, but the very best is already standing infront of us, our family. Misunderstanding among family members are but normal. We can always depend in our brothers or sisters as long as we will not abuse their kindness.
How about you, fellow hubbers? What's the song that affects you most whenever you hear it. There are many songs that are repeatedly played on the radio or we've seen the videos on television, but there are songs that really touched our hearts or emotions.
You can also share it with this hub. Or you can even sing it by yourself.
