Nav Sikand Close Up
As a lover of vintage films, Nav Sikand chose his main subject to be Movie Goddesses. Mr. Sikand researches his subject thoroughly, and with each doll description (eBay auction) he provides a synopsis of the actress and movie that inspired his art.
For his Movie Goddess designer dolls, Mr. Sikand prefers using the Robert Tonner dolls. He begins by removing all original facial paint. From here, he repaints the face, applies real eyelashes, and restyles or reroots their hair to look like the particular actress in character.
Based on his subject's starring role, he either commissions someone to make their outfits, or makes the outfit himself. In the case Marilyn Monroe as Sugar Kane, he designed and hand sewed the dress and micro beads on the doll himself.
