Vampire Movies-The 10 best.

Updated on October 23, 2017

A dark force awakens!

"Never invite a Vampire into your home"

Vampires-The blood sucking, living dead, have been a big part horror on the big screen for decades. Here are the ten that I like the best. Feel free to tell me what vampires, and movies they terrorize, that you liked best.

13. Rise: Blood Hunter. Lucy Lui, and Michael Chiklis were great in this unique story that tugs at the emotional heart strings.

12. Bram Stroker's Dracula- Though boring at times, one can not deny an outstanding cast (other than Gary Oldman) and a good screen play. I like Oldman, but for Dracula, they could have gotten a better suited actor. One that chilled the blood. He didn't.

11. 30 Days of Darkness-Halloween has 31. Beware of the next 30! that wasn't very clever, I know. lol.

10.The Horror of Dracula- Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing team up in this classic.

9. Fright Night-The original, and still best. The new one with Colin Farrell is good too!

8. Let me in- This was the American remake of a Swedish Classic. I loved the One that this was a remake of! It was unpredictable and original, but because it showed a nude 12 year old actress (I did not know that until I saw it) so, I left it off. Those damn Swedes!

7.Blade Trinity - Great acting, and one of the creepiest one liners in movie history, comes from a little girl. Ryan Reynolds and Snipes play well off of each other.

6. Blackula! This had a wild plot and over the top acting. Its almost 40 years old and is still an unforgotten classic.

5. Nosferatu- Ancient but classic! This was even creepier because of the effect that being in black and white produced.

4. The Lost boys. The acting and suspense save this "hip" , trendy look at teenage Vampires in L.A. Keifer Sutherland stole the show among a great group of young actors.

3. Prince of Darkness- Intense horror, and and shocking images. Donald Pleasance and Lisa Blount are great in this.

2. Dracula- The role that Bela Lugosi was BORN for! In 1931, he set the stage for Hollywood to be terrified by Vampires for decades to come. He was awesome when he brought this chilling legend to life. He was so good as the count, that his career, unfortunately, could only go down hill from there.

1. Interview with the Vampire - Surprised? Who can resist top notch acting, terror, crazed lunatics, and a brutal force of evil? Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Kirsten Dunst, Antionio Banderas, and ChristianSlater all brought their A game and jelled together, in this modern day classic!

Do I feel bad about excluding some Vamp classics? Sure!

I hated to leave out the following:

1. Blade 2- Wesley Snipes returns as the Daywalker on a mission to wipe out the Vampires that hunt in the night. The unexpected happens in this thriller...Blade meets a Vampire that he actually likes.

2. Salem's Lot-Stephen King's portrayal of of evil. David Soul and supporters were great. I wish they dumped Fred Willard and a couple of others though.

3.Daughter of Dracula.

4. The Devil Bat. Bela knew Vampires!

5. Vampire in Brooklyn- Wes Craven and Eddie Murphy team up in this unusual combination of comedy, romance, and horror set in the streets of New York City. Eddie steps out of his usual roles and plays a smart, charming, villain who is good at masking his evil.

*What are the worst? Professor Dracula was silly, and stupid, "Vamp" was weird, and Queen of the Damned was over rated.

You Twilight people hate me too, so I will say I did not even think of this movie, while making either list. Why? Titanic was a love story not a historical movie, the same way that Twilight was a love story!

Let the hate mail begin.LOL

Well I hope you will lock the windows, use extra garlic on your Pizza, and enjoy all of these!

I like Underworld, but the problem is, they got away from vampires and made it a general monster movie, like Van Helsing did.

Who can forget the underworld trilogy and frightnight! In my opinion those are the best.

I didn't think that Bradley would be able to pull off being a Vamp., but he did it well. Ann Rice knows Vampires like no one else does!

Queen of the Damned is my all-time favorite vampire movie. It's the prequel to Interview with the Vampire. =)

Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein is awesome, but its not on my list. It actually is not what I consider to be a Vampire Movie, hence the title.I do own it and love it though. Thank you for your input and compliment!

Loved your list. But my favorite, is when Abbott and Costello meet Dracula. Brings back memories of Saturday Matinee.

Blacula is great. We watched Scream, Blacula, Scream last weekend for movie night, and it was just as good. And it had Pam Grier too.

      Thank you so very much!

While LTROI is a very popular Vamp. Movie, I could not recommend it. It was a foreign film that got away with showing an under age actress in the nude. That goes against everything I believe in.

LOL about Mr. Cary and Once Bitten. How about Love at First Bite? LOL

At least you remembered to put "The Lost Boys" on the list, so who could really be that mad at you? I agree with Pamela on "Fright Night" and "Let the Right One In"--but I'd even throw in the amazingly terrible "Once Bitten." Also, no love for Kristy Swanson in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"? Obviously, I'm into the vampire comedies. Great list!

There are a few new ones to add to the list such as "Daybreakers" and "Let the Right One In". And, least to forget "Under World". How did you ever forget that one?? We must not also forget "Fright Night".
