Video Rewind: "Scary" Treats for Kids

Updated on November 7, 2014

By now you're probably a little tired of the Halloween specials and can't wait for the "season of the witch" is over, but what about the little ones?

Sure there aren't many kid friendly "horror" movies out there, but here's a few that should put a smile on their chocolate covered faces after a night of trick or treating.

I never thought I'd watch a Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen movie, but I did. Double, Double, Toil and Trouble is a fun little movie about how the Farmer twins want to be different from one another.

With the bank threatening foreclosure on their house, they take a trip with their parents (Eric McCormack and Kelli Fox) to their Aunt Agatha's spooky mansion. Aunt Agatha (Cloris Leachman) is a cold hearted witch and the girls are told the story about a witch living in the house and the disappearance of their Aunt Sophia (Agatha's twin).

Only they can save Aunt Sophia if they can get the moonstone from Aunt Agatha before the clock strikes midnight on Halloween.

While the Olsen's are out saving their aunt, it's up to Max and Dani Dennison (Omri Katz and Thora Birch) along with Allison (Vinessa Shaw) to save the kids of Salem from some Hocus Pocus. The Sanderson sisters (Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker) were sentenced to death 300 years ago accused of being witches.

When Max lights the black flame candle on Halloween night after Allison takes the siblings to the old Sanderson house the witches come back to reek havoc on the town. Sometimes Halloween legends can come to life.

But while Halloween legends come to life, it's up to Jack Skellington in The Nightmare Before Christmas to make things right with the universe after he discovers the door to Christmas.

Bored and depressed on Halloween, he and his faithful dog Zero take a walk through the woods where they come upon the various holidays we know and celebrate. The shiny door to Christmas beckons him and before he knows it, he's stumbled across a holiday unbeknownst to him.

Fascinated by what he finds, he quickly goes back to Halloween Town and tells of his discovery. With the kidnapping of Santa Claus, he takes over Santa's duties and soon all of Halloween Town is preparing to celebrate Christmas. Of course with disastrous results.

Will the Olsen's save Sophia? Will the Salem threesome save the kids in town? Will Santa be freed?

In order to find the answer go to your favorite video store or check the shelf in your home to answer these "horrific" questions!
