Lady Gaga: Was She Born This Way?
Lady Gaga...
I'm officially out of the closet. Lady Gaga has achieved something even more difficult than bumping Oprah from the #1 spot on Forbes Most Powerful Celebrities list....she gained me as a fan. It's all good. I have no intentions of dressing up like a Little Monster, she's not my Mother Monster and I have no intentions of wearing a meat dress! I was not always a fan! Up until a year ago I was one of the many who referred to her as Lady Gag-me until I did the unthinkable. I stopped judging her by her appearance and began listening to what she had to say as a person. It was during this process that she reeled me in.
Lady Gaga also known as Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta is definitely a unique individual. Her love and respect for her family is powerful. Her family is her world and they fully support her. She was raised Catholic and still practices her religion which might surprise some. Her sister is a fashion designing student and assists with her designs, keeping it in the family....kudos to Gaga! Her father's sister died at a young age from Lupus and Gaga has tested borderline positive for the disease but luckily has no symptoms and is a healthy 25 year old. She wears her Aunt Joanne's birth certificate on a chain (in the form of a charm) and prays to her before each show. Her mother claims that she was really "born this way" and is the real deal. Who are we to question what mama gaga says.
She adores her fans aka Little Monsters and is fascinated by their admiration for her. She hasn't allowed her stardom to go to her head (from what I can tell). Sure she has freaklandish outfits but she's a creative artist expressing herself. Many of us would say she's screaming for attention, well if she is more power to her because it's working!!
Bullying is just plain wrong. Gaga was bullied in school. She was thrown in trash cans, pushed around and ridiculed for her appearance. Bullying brought her to where she is now. That's quite an accomplishment! She used that torture and misfortune to achieve success. She could have gone down another path and permitted the bullies to win, but she didn't and she deserves an atta girl for that. The sad thing is until this day she considers herself a loser and has a tendency to become emotional due to her past abuse. Bullies have no conception of the damage they cause while they are basically entertaining their insignificance.
There are many celebrities that present themselves with their individual identities and have a large fan base. Ozzy Osbourne bit the heads off of bats and look at all he's accomplished! KISS never performed without their makeup and had wild stage antics and they were successful. I now say the more unique the better! I guess we'll never know if Lady Gaga was born this way but if she was she's a lucky lady!
What I've learned from Lady Gaga in the past few months will stick with me forever. I've finally learned to never judge a book by it's cover. Yes it's taken me awhile but I'm finally there and I'm happy about it. I now appreciate people and the uniqueness that they offer the world. We are all different, rare individuals who represent the melting pot that we thrive in. We all have something to offer society, some of us just haven't found our niche yet. I prefer to think we were all born this way and that makes this world a better place. Rock on Monsters! Paws Up!!
