Washburn D6S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Review

Updated on August 10, 2010

Learning guitar is a both a useful talent and an enjoyable hobby.  If you looking for a guitar to start learning music on, then hopefully this review will lead you to a great beginner guitar.

I recently bought the Washburn D6S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar. I wasn't sure what to expect because I had bought a guitar at a low price a few months prior and ended up with a piece of garbage.

When I came across the Washburn D6S I searched for reviews, as I didn't want to end up with another bad guitar. I only found a few, but they were all positive, but not very detailed. Hopefully mine will be a little more helpful.

I was very impressed with this Washburn. I'm only a beginning guitar player, but have years of musical background in the viola so I know what makes a decent instrument. This guitar isn't magnificent, by any means, but it's very good for a beginning guitar. I could play it right out of the box. The action isn't very high, which is easy on the fingers for a new guitar player.

The tone was also great. I heard from a few people they had a little bit of buzzing on their Washburns, but I have had no problems. It doesn't seem like a big deal for a beginning guitar anyway. I also read a few times that people received damaged guitars, but most stores will replace the guitar if it is damaged in shipping, no charge. Don't get upset if you receive a damage one, send it back. It's worth it.

The finish was a little scratched on my Washburn, and I'm not sure if that occurred from the shipping. I wasn't really worried about it since I was just using it for practice, but if you are looking one that has a beautiful finish, then you'll be a bit disappointed by the Washburn D6S.

The Washburn D6S is a great guitar at a great price if you're looking to learn a guitar. I only recommend you change the strings which is a recommendation for most new guitars. Also you'll want probably want to buy a gig bag to protect the guitar and some picks, as the guitar doesn't come with them.

So if you're ready to start learning guitar go ahead and order the Washburn. Also check out the video below so that you can start learning chords. Soon enough you'll be playing like a pro.
