Watching your favorite TV shows online.

Updated on August 22, 2011

The idea of saving money by watching TV online.

Everyone from all walks of life are looking to save a buck these days. A tough worldwide economy has many people cutting out things they don't feel are essential. More people are having their land line phones disconnected, and relying strictly on their cellphones. More people are attempting to live more frugal lifestyles. Some people don't even know that you can watch your favorite TV shows online. You can find yourself saving money monthly by cutting out your cable, and watching television online. Please read on.

How you can make watching TV online work.

Most cable companies charge you a fee for monthly service. It doesn't matter if you watch only a few channels out of the many offered. Even if you do watch a lot of channels on television, it's likely that there will be some that you don't watch. If you look at it for what it's worth, you are potentially paying for channels you don't watch. Many people are beginning to use website such as: Hulu, Amazon, and others to watch their favorite shows. You can even watch some shows off of certain network's websites. I seldom watch television on a standard TV these days. When I do actually watch television, it's mainly the news. Most of the shows that I like, I watch them online. I have watched the entire first season of the A&E show "Breakout Kings" strictly on the Internet. Did you know that you can watch some networks online with just a basic Google search? Some nights if I'm able, I can lay in my bed and watch Fox News or CNN right on my computer.

Example of how it works and summary of article.

Lets say you want to watch the network CNN. You can go to Google and type in something like: "CNN news stream". The chances are that you will find a website that will be streaming CNN live. The same thing goes for sporting events. If you want to watch a boxing match, or football game, you can do a search for those as well. There are many different sites that stream live television. I'm not saying that anyone should get rid of their cable, but it could definitely be an option. Watching television on a standard TV is still the preferred method for most people. However, watching television online can help you save money. If you are interested in this, I would suggest doing some research on how to stream live television. It's one of the main ways I watch my favorite shows now. Thanks for reading.

Hey there Kev! I'm with you 100 percent on that. I'd rather have a computer and an Internet connection than a television. I get most of my news etc from my computer, and I can always watch whatever shows I like right from my computer. A lot of people think something is wrong with me cause I don't have a television in my room. I don't have a need for it lol. Thanks for your continued support my friend. I appreciate it a lot! :)

Hey there Robin. I've cut back a lot on watching television also. I find that watching it too much keeps me from being active, so you're not missing anything. Thanks for reading and always supporting me. :)

@formosangirl, Yea I've noticed that Hulu has changed a bit also. I've been wanting to watch the final season of "Friday Night Lights" on there, but they only have a few free episodes. The rest we have to pay for. There is also another great website I use called that has various stations that we can watch. I use it quite often to watch sporting events. Thank you so much for reading and leaving me your feedback. Happy New Year to you also.

Lately I have been watching shows directly from ABC website and Hulu because I have no clue when they come on. Now Hulu wants to charge for earlier episodes, and they are missing the same shows that the network websites won't show. However, I will follow you tip and try to google the missing shows. Great hub. Happy New Year!

Vote up, these are good tips. I have cable and hardly get time to watch. I could probably find the shows I do like online.
