When books become movies

Updated on May 2, 2012

When you read a book, do you ever think of how it would be if they made it into a movie? There are many times that I read books and I imagine it made into a movie. Who knows maybe with me as a protagonist, then I open my eyes and realize that part will never happen. Have you ever read that one book that you wished they would make into a movie?

Now I like to see movies, especially after they are on DVD, however what I didn't really know was that so many movies were based on books that I had never thought of reading at one point in my life. Look at Jurassic Park, as a young girl when it first came out, how would I know that Michael Crichton wrote it and they used his book to make it into a movie. Now to say that I read the book after I found out, I decided on just watching the movie because I figured they went along with the book.

Another example would be the very much known, Twilight Series. I can remember when that book was not very popular at first. I saw teens check it out, so I decided to read it and I read the whole series way before they became movies. It is a great series to read and when the movies came out they did go along with the books. But right after the first movie came out, the books started to attract more people and not just teens but also adults. The very last movie will hopefully go along with the end of the last book because one would think that if the first few movies did then the last one will.

Now let's talk about the Hunger Games, yes still in the movies yet popular due to its action. The book itself is interesting, I haven't read it yet because when I wanted to read it, I recall there was about 125 people waiting to check out that book. Now that has to mean alot of people really wanted to watch the movie because of the book. Or it could be they wanted to read the book before the movie?

There are so many other books that they have made into movies such as, Water for Elephants, Like Water Like Chocolate, Something Borrowed, Runaway Jury, Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter. Those are just a few that you may have heard of. Can you think of other movies that were based on books, either from a long time ago or even recently? Do you think it is good that they base movies on books or should they be on the creative side? Or maybe both? Well, time to go enjoy a movie, which one will it be, hmmm.

I love to see movies based on books, if they do a good job. I thought Water for Elephants was wonderful. They did an excellent job on Cormac McCarthy's The Road too.

I like to read the books first but if I don't have a chance to, I usually also give the movie a chance, just depends. Thanks for stopping by to read.

It is true our minds can really get into books and create imaginative pictures. Thank you for stopping by to read.

I've almost always found the book better. The exception to the rule was Jaws - a classic made good by the acting and effects.

I have read some good books turned into some good and some bad movies....

I believe the last part of the Harry Potter series, The Deathly Hallows 2... was disappointing.. for me...

The acting in the Twilight series is really crap

PS: I love you was a good movie

A walk to remember was okay

The Godfather.. till date is the best movie adapted from a book for me....

However, except for the case of the Godfather where both the book and the movie cast great impacts, I am more into the books than movies 'cause personally believe that the mind can create more vivid and imaginative pictures

      Great Hub!

Bridges Over Madison County is the first book that comes to mind. The book was fantastic!! I fell in love with the book. Then came the movie. Ugh what a disappointment. Major fail.

Now to the Lincoln Lawyer and The Lucky One. I saw both of these movies and didn't read the books. I enjoyed the movies too much to ruin the illusion by reading the books. Great hub!!!
